Function and Significance
Blood Qi Value is the most direct standard used to judge a person’s overall strength, though it is not the sole determinant of combat ability. Martial skills, weapon proficiency, combat experience, talent, and physical qualities can allow someone with lower Blood Qi to defeat a stronger opponent. 21 24
Su Yuan repeatedly demonstrates this distinction. At 72.3 Blood Qi, he defeats Lin Jie, whose Blood Qi Value is more than 20 points higher, and at 78.5 he sends the 106.6-Blood-Qi Bai Zhenhao flying with a punch. 7 8 21 His low displayed value also fails to prevent him from being ranked fifth in the Qianshan Class, above numerous students with higher readings. 40
The disparity grows more pronounced at higher realms. With 10,000 Blood Qi, Su Yuan uses superior speed, Self-Is Power, and sustained attacks to force the roughly 30,000-Blood-Qi Zhao Longpo to acknowledge him as First Squad captain. 281 His Blood Qi quality and physical foundation are also abnormally high: despite remaining an Eighth-Realm High-Stage martial artist, Qin Chengyan and Gu Lingkong judge that his Blood Qi quality is comparable to that of a Ninth-Realm martial artist. 450
Blood Qi is nevertheless described as the foundation of all strength. Increasing it improves physical condition, physical force, speed, endurance, and the ability to use increasingly demanding martial techniques. 11 20 32 For ordinary cultivators, one additional Blood Qi generally corresponds to about 20 kilograms of physical strength, while more talented individuals gain more. 66
At high levels, numeric Blood Qi increases need not account for all gains in strength. Su Yuan’s unusually powerful physique causes part of the energy from Primordial Beast Origins to be diverted into strengthening his organs, limbs, and bones rather than raising his displayed Blood Qi Value. 450 Likewise, the Soul Illumination Method can temporarily simulate Blood Qi through spiritual power, but this simulation does not reproduce the other abilities gained through a genuine realm increase. 534
Ranks and Thresholds
| Requirement | Standard |
|---|---|
| Joint Key Class preliminary eligibility | At least 75 Blood Qi, at least 260 kg punching force, and no more than 200 Blood Qi Supplements consumed by a student at the 75-Blood-Qi threshold 16 |
| First-Realm Martial Artist | 100 Blood Qi, 800 kg punching force, and practical-combat simulation training through a Virtual Network Simulation Pod; the Martial Arts Association grants formal certification after these requirements are met 14 |
| First-Realm minor-stage advancement | Every additional 40 Blood Qi advances a First-Realm Martial Artist by one minor stage 21 |
| Second-Realm Martial Artist | 300 Blood Qi 21 |
| Peak Second-Realm Martial Artist | 480 Blood Qi 114 |
| Fourth-Realm Mid-Stage Martial Artist | 1,500 Blood Qi 116 |

| High-Tier Ninth-Realm Martial Artist | 180,000 Blood Qi 470 |
| Peak Ninth-Realm Martial Artist | 235,000 Blood Qi 470 |
| Early-Stage Tenth-Realm Martial Artist | 350,000 Blood Qi; Grand Perfection in the Power of Will is also a condition for the Tenth Realm 470 500 |
| Martial artist structure | Ten major realms, each divided into early, middle, late, and peak stages 21 |
Measurement
Blood Qi Values are measured using specialized testing devices, commonly through an iris scan. 11 49
- Measurements can vary from a cultivator’s panel value: Second High School’s device reads Su Yuan at 77.2 when his panel shows 77.8. 11
- Qianshan No. 1 High School’s device is substantially more precise, showing only a 0.1 deviation from Su Yuan’s panel value. 49
- Testing while exhausted is considered more accurate because a cultivator has less energy available to control or conceal their Blood Qi. 49
- A reading of 100 Blood Qi alone does not establish formal First-Realm status; Martial Arts Association certification remains necessary. 49
- Ordinary household testing devices are costly and still possess slight margins of error, while devices with zero error are described as astronomically expensive. 4
- Higher-grade devices can precisely match a cultivator’s panel value, as demonstrated when Su Yuan’s 231 Blood Qi reading has no discrepancy. 90
- Advanced cultivators can restrain their aura so completely that their Blood Qi fluctuations are undetectable without deliberate release. 332
Methods of Increase
- Breathing methods — Regular cultivation through a breathing method gradually raises Blood Qi. The Concise Thunder Breathing Method is one of Xia Nation’s seven foundational breathing methods and can generally support cultivation up to the Second Realm when perfected. 5
- Blood Qi Supplements — Purchased supplements provide direct increases, but their effects diminish with repeated use. Su Yuan initially gains 0.1 per supplement, then 0.08, and eventually 0.05. 10 32
- Frost-Ice Stones — These stones release cold energy that stimulates Blood Qi; deeper exposure produces stronger gains. Su Yuan’s exceptional physique vastly amplifies the effect. 26 27
- Thunder-Silk Flower — A rare treasure that normally adds roughly two Blood Qi to a First-Realm Martial Artist; lightning-attribute breathing techniques double its effect. 45
- Strenuous martial training — Extended practice of high-tier techniques can increase Blood Qi alongside technical proficiency, though stronger techniques consume greater stamina and focus. 20
- Talent effects — Su Yuan’s Cocoon-Breaking Power and Crimson War God’s Heart repeatedly enhance his body’s ability to contain, refine, and increase Blood Qi. 2 32
- Snow-mountain climbing — At sufficiently high altitude, extreme cold and climbing pressure stimulate Blood Qi. Su Yuan begins gaining Blood Qi continuously after passing 420 meters and gains 17 points during his first snow-mountain ascent. 110 113
- Battle robots and fatigue conversion — High-pressure sparring in Light-Pillar Training Rooms improves Blood Qi alongside martial skill proficiency, while Fatigue Conversion Orbs transform accumulated exhaustion into Blood Qi. 114
- Martial-skill breakthroughs — Bringing a martial skill to a major level can directly increase Blood Qi, such as Moon-Burning Thunder Art Spear reaching Perfection and adding 36 points. 121
- Astral Energy Divine Emperor Breathing Method — This exceptionally difficult breathing method produces unusually rapid Blood Qi growth even before reaching Preliminary Level. Its later Star-Abyss-Tier Astral Power further accelerates cultivation to more than 50 Blood Qi per hour. 148 149 512
- Primordial Beast Origins and Hunyuan Crystals — Refining the origins of Hunyuan Beasts or Hunyuan Crystals provides substantial direct increases. Repeated refinement suffers diminishing returns, and Su Yuan’s powerful body may divert part of the energy into physical strengthening instead of displayed Blood Qi. 232 235 450
- High-grade medicinal resources — Violet-Rhyme Bloodbreaker Agents add 15 Blood Qi each, while Azure Origin Hundred Wonders Pills can add up to 50 points depending on talent. More elite resources, including Special Energy Essence, Special Blood Qi Energy Supplements, Seven-Aperture Blood-Flush Pills, and the Heavenly Yang True Spirit Pill, can provide far greater increases. 176 177 303
- Wind Laws tempering — Li Dieyi’s Wind Domain stimulates Blood Qi without side effects before the Ninth Realm. The longer the cultivator endures its tearing force, the greater the increase; Su Yuan gains nearly 300 points in three days and later gains more than 370 points in two and a half days. 254 255 260
- Hui Valley Square — This one-use virtual cultivation item contains energy that can raise Blood Qi and serves as a prerequisite for Wisdom Valley Star’s Three Rankings. Su Yuan gains nearly 100,000 Blood Qi through its three stages. 521 523
