Background / History

Yue Qingshan was once one of Heavy Earth Gate’s foremost martial artists. Known across Skycloud Prefecture as the “Spear-and-Staff Mastery,” he brought Bedrock Court to first place in the Three-Courtyard Tournament for several consecutive years. His spear and staff arts were considered divine, while his body-tempering cultivation was exceptional. He also trained his daughter, Yue Wuxue, who ultimately surpassed him and overshadowed her contemporaries. 91

His family was shattered after Yue Wuxue and Miao Lingfeng had Miao Yue’er. Miao Lingfeng, secretly the prime minister’s son and the Ninth Princess’s betrothed, was forced to leave his family. The Ninth Princess implanted Extreme Cold Force into Miao Yue’er, crippling her cultivation and causing her to faint whenever she circulated too much true qi. As a teacher, he is exacting and merciless in criticism. He repeatedly corrects Zhou’s staff forms, rejects brute-force technique, and emphasizes that martial intent must be personally comprehended rather than copied. 92 Despite this severity, he provides valuable resources, secret guidance, and direct protection to those he accepts. 71 83

His greatest vulnerability is Miao Yue’er.
