Lu Xi narrowed his eyes slightly and carefully recalled the original plot, but he could not think of any important character who had run into trouble at this point.
He simply asked directly,
"Why don't you tell me first? Who is the person you want me to save this time, and what exactly happened?"
Maria hesitated for a moment, then took a file from her pocket and handed it over.
Lu Xi accepted the file and found that it only briefly listed Peggy Carter's name, age, and current physical condition.
Obviously, to prevent intelligence leaks, her former work and personal history had been deliberately omitted.
But the moment Lu Xi saw that name, a flash of interest crossed his eyes.
Isn't she Captain Steve's one true love? He immediately changed his mind.
A meaningful smile curved across Lu Xi's lips.
"Interesting. Then I'll go take a look."
Maria froze slightly and asked in surprise,
"There's no need to trade a soul?"
Lu Xi's eyes flickered as he said,
"Not this time. But if Peggy Carter is willing to make a deal with me, you can't stop her."
Just as Maria was hesitating over how to respond, Nick Fury's deep voice suddenly came through her wireless earpiece.
"Agent Hill, agree to it."
Maria was startled, a trace of surprise flashing through her eyes. She immediately gestured toward the black SUV parked outside and said with a smile,
"Sir, please get in."
Meanwhile, inside S.H.I.E.L.D.'s dimly lit office.
Nick Fury sat solemnly behind his desk, his gaze fixed on a list laid out before him.
Carol Danvers—Pending
Tony Stark—Pending
Bruce Banner—Pending
Spider-Man—Pending
Daredevil—Pending
Lucifer—??
Fury's gaze lingered over the name "Lucifer" for a long time.
Then he picked up a red marker and drew a large circle around those three letters.
Based on the available data, the power displayed by this Demon King far surpassed the combined strength of every Avengers candidate he had carefully selected.
That also meant Lucifer was filled with the unknown and danger.
Before fully understanding his intentions, Fury did not dare make deep contact with him at all.
But at this moment, Fury had happily discovered that this powerful Demon King seemed to have needs of his own—he needed contract souls!
In Fury's view, as long as he grasped what the other party needed, there was a possibility of controlling him.
That was why he had agreed to Lucifer's condition without hesitation.
He wanted to gain a deeper understanding of this matter.
He believed that with Peggy Carter's character, even if she was old now, she would never easily agree to something as absurd as trading her soul.
Inside the car, Lu Xi sank into deep thought.
Earlier, he had asked Wanda and Pietro to try touching the feather, but it had produced no effect.
After analyzing it, Lu Xi felt that the most likely reason was that they did not possess his Divine Power within their bodies.
He had actually tried carefully giving Wanda a trace of Divine Power.
But the instant that trace of Divine Power entered Wanda's body, it violently conflicted with her Chaos Magic, like oil meeting fire as it exploded in an instant.
Seeing this, Lu Xi immediately and decisively withdrew his Divine Power.
Through this incident, Lu Xi formed a rough guess.
People like Wanda, who already possessed superpowers, could theoretically be transformed into Angels as well.
But the prerequisite was that he had to use his powerful Divine Power to completely wash away their original superpowers.
For ordinary mortals like Peggy Carter, however, such an obstacle should not exist.
Whether that was really the case would become clear once he saw Peggy shortly.
Before long, the car slowly came to a stop.
Lu Xi looked up and found that they had arrived at what appeared to be an ordinary sanatorium.
However, he could tell at a glance that this place was far from simple. Beneath its tranquil and peaceful exterior, security was extremely tight.
Visible guards and hidden sentries were as countless as ghosts concealed in the shadows, rigorously protecting everything here.
Under Maria's guidance, Lu Xi met Peggy.
At this moment, Peggy's face was as pale as paper, and her body was so weak that a gust of wind seemed capable of knocking her over.
Yet even so, Lu Xi could still clearly see that Peggy's soul shone with a soft, brilliant radiance.
Its dazzling brilliance was actually no less than Pepper Potts' soul.
Maria stepped forward and softly introduced him.
"Ms. Peggy, this is Lord Lucifer. We specially invited him to help you."
Shock instantly appeared on Peggy's weak face. Her eyes widened as she said in a trembling voice,
"Lucifer... are you a demon god from Hell?"
Lu Xi nodded slightly and answered frankly,
"I suppose you could say that."
At those words, Peggy's pupils contracted sharply, and her entire body began trembling uncontrollably.
The medical instruments beside her seemed to sense the violent fluctuations in her emotions and immediately began emitting rapid beeps.
The doctor's expression changed drastically. He shouted nervously,
"Oh no, ventricular fibrillation! Charge the defibrillator!"
As soon as he spoke, a group of doctors and nurses hurriedly began bustling about, and the ward immediately descended into chaos.
Seeing this, Lu Xi calmly raised his hand and accurately cast a trace of Healing Spell containing restorative power onto Peggy.
In an instant, some color returned to Peggy's bloodless face, and her breathing gradually steadied.
The doctors were dumbfounded by the sight, their eyes full of disbelief.
"This... this works too?"
Maria waved her hand, signaling for them to leave first.
After the doctors had left, Lu Xi said,
"My control over my power is precise. That trace of healing energy is enough to get you through the emergency just now."
"But it isn't enough to heal you completely. You still only have a few days left to live."
By now, Peggy completely believed that the person standing before her truly was that mysterious and powerful demon god from Hell.
But what she cared about first was not her own lifespan. Instead, she asked with a face full of confusion,
"That's impossible. Aren't you unable to descend upon Earth?"
As one of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s founders, Peggy had encountered more secrets in her lifetime than most could imagine, including quite a few incidents involving Hell.
So she vaguely knew that there was a group of mysterious people in the magical world.
They silently protected Earth and would never allow the Hell Dimension to invade so easily.
Lu Xi spread his hands and shrugged.
"But I got in anyway. So, are you interested in making a deal?"
Peggy looked at him warily and asked,
"What kind of deal?"
Lu Xi stared intently at Peggy and slowly said,
"I can give you an opportunity. As long as you sign a soul contract with me, your soul will belong to me after you die naturally."
"In exchange, I can restore your health immediately. I can even return you directly to the state you were in during your youth. What do you say?"
