The empire recruits talent beyond its borders and accepts immigrants who can contribute, particularly soul engineers. Xuan Ziwen, whose parents immigrated to Sun Moon, rose to become both an academy teacher and a Mingde Hall researcher; Huo Yuhao was similarly vetted by agent Zhang Jin before being accepted as a “Sun Moon Person.” 5 6

Sun Moon society developed around soul guidance technology and its relative material advantages. Its citizens use coal for heating while nobles use soul guidance devices, a contrast presented as evidence of superiority over the other empires. 17

The empire has long sought to unify the Douluo Continent. Public opinion was mobilized around a proposed “Holy War,” though its initial preparations were constrained by the cost and production time of strategic weapons such as Rank 9 fixed soul cannon shells. 18

After the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineer Academy won the Soul Duel Tournament, immigration from Star Luo increased, including talented individuals drawn by the empire’s opportunities and technological strength. 237 238

Succession Crisis

After Xu Tianran’s death, Huo Yuhao and Kong Deming supported Xu Tianzhen’s accession. A coup attempt by royal relatives was suppressed, Xu Tianzhen became emperor, and Huo Yuhao was appointed prime minister. 692 693

The imperial clan is extensive and costly to maintain; many members are described as idle dependents whose privileges generated resentment within the empire. 693

Rise of Huo Yuhao and the Academy

Huo Yuhao joined the empire through Zhang Jin’s recruitment network and enrolled at the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineer Academy. 5 9 His rapid advancement in soul engineering and combat made him a central national asset, while his victories helped establish the academy as a major rival to Shrek. 31 309 312

War Preparations

The empire’s ruling class and public increasingly favored war and continental unification. Xu Tianran and his officials debated whether to strike Star Luo or Heaven Soul first; Ju Zi’s strategy of tying down Star Luo while focusing on Heaven Soul was approved. 581 582

Internal tension emerged over Xu Tianran’s support for the Holy Spirit Church. Kong Deming refused to endorse its promotion to a Nation Protecting Divine Church, and the military leadership largely shared his hostility toward evil soul masters. 581 583

Annexation of Heaven Soul

Huo Yuhao negotiated the peaceful incorporation of the Heaven Soul Empire, promising equal treatment for Heaven Soul citizens and continued use of the former imperial family’s influence in governance. 620 621

The Sun Moon Army entered Heaven Dou City after disguising itself as merchant caravans, but ultimately took over the city without resistance after the merger was publicly confirmed. 621 622

Conquest of Star Luo

The empire occupied most of Star Luo territory through military victories, infiltration, and local political measures. By this stage, six-sevenths of Star Luo territory had fallen under Sun Moon control. 741

Ju Zi combined suppression of resistance with policies meant to win civilian support, including tax exemptions in occupied regions. 745 749 Soul engineer legions arrested rebellious soul masters while also punishing hated local nobles and crediting Prime Minister Huo Yuhao for the resulting benefits. 749

Star Luo was later reported as completely occupied, with Xu Jiujiu installed to oversee its integration into the Sun Moon Empire. 761

Occupation of Shrek City

Huo Yuhao led Sun Moon forces into Shrek City and occupied Shrek Academy. He seized the Sea God Pavilion and planned to use its cultivation benefits as rewards for contributors to the empire. 825

The capture of Shrek City was portrayed inside the empire as the removal of a historic obstacle that had thwarted Sun Moon expansion more than four thousand years earlier. 830
