Background / History
Kakashi is the son of Sakumo Hatake, Konoha's White Fang. Sakumo's suicide left Kakashi unable to understand how a man he remembered as unyielding could have died that way; he later learns that Danzō's actions and Konoha's hypocrisy were tied to the tragedy. 8 10
While serving in ANBU, Kakashi investigates Itachi Uchiha's movements and tracks him to Doichi Hyuga's residence. Doichi disables him with Gentle Fist chakra-point strikes, then releases him after Kakashi identifies himself. 9
After Itachi tells him of Danzō's connection to White Fang's death, Kakashi agrees to support the operation against Root. He joins Itachi, Fugaku, and Doichi in infiltrating Root headquarters, secures incriminating documents, and delivers the final blow against Danzō. 8 10
Appearance
Kakashi is recognized by his white hair, permanently weary-looking “dead-fish eyes,” and a face mask that covers his lower face. 20 155
- White-haired, with a notably detached or sleepy-eyed expression. 20 51
- Regularly wears a mask, including after his spatial-training sickness leaves him needing to change into a fresh one. 155
- Carries the restored short sword White Fang, which holds Sakumo's sword intent. 94
Personality
Kakashi is initially quiet, reserved, and dependable toward younger shinobi, particularly Itachi during their ANBU association. 8 He often presents himself as lazy or unbothered, reading his “little yellow books” even while others train. 92 143
Beneath that detachment, he carries intense grief over Sakumo, Obito, Rin, and Minato. The revelation that Obito survived leaves him devastated, but he accepts Doichi's demand to become stronger rather than pursue a reckless confrontation. 92 154
In battle, Kakashi is observant and pragmatic. He prioritizes formations, logistics, sealing support, and the safety of his comrades; cruelty toward helpless allied shinobi can also provoke a cold, ruthless fury. 207
Abilities & Skills
Flying Thunder God Technique
Kakashi studies the Fourth Hokage's spatial technique under Doichi's guidance and later receives instruction from Minato and Tobirama. 94 183
- Uses Flying Thunder God to reinforce the Allied Forces' rear logistics unit before it is overrun. 207
- Throws marked three-pronged kunai to create rapid attack routes against reanimated swordsmen. 207
- Uses the technique alongside Minato during high-speed engagements with Obito and Madara. 191 244
- His early spatial-transfer combat is limited by debilitating disorientation, prompting Doichi's harsh physical conditioning. 154 155
Lightning Release and Chidori
Kakashi is a Lightning Release specialist whose Lightning Cutter combines shape transformation with lightning nature transformation. 51 134
- Teaches Sasuke Chidori after Doichi refuses to train him directly. 51
- Finishes Zabuza with Lightning Cutter during the Land of Waves battle. 51
- Uses Lightning Release: Fang of Brutality and Feral Fang through the Executioner's Blade against reanimated swordsmen and Obito. 207 219
Swordsmanship
Kakashi restores Sakumo's broken White Fang and resolves to surpass his father's swordsmanship. 94
- Trains under the resurrected Sakumo, whose unlimited-chakra reanimated body forces Kakashi to react to relentless blade aura attacks. 191
- Wields the Executioner's Blade effectively despite it not being his original weapon. 207
- Combines Fire, Wind, and Lightning Release with sword strikes to prevent reanimated opponents from regenerating. 207
Sharingan and Kamui
Kakashi formerly possessed Obito's implanted Mangekyō Sharingan, whose chakra signature exposed the masked man as Obito Uchiha. 92
- Loses the implanted eye after Obito reclaims it, then receives a cloned replacement eye cultivated from his own cells. 92 94
- Temporarily receives Obito's chakra and both Kamui eyes after Obito's death. 262
- Manifests a cyan Complete Body Susanoo and uses Kamui Shuriken to sever Kaguya's absorptive white hands. 262
- The dual-Kamui state is temporary and cannot be relied upon for an extended fight. 262
Tactical Command
Kakashi excels at battlefield assessment and rapid operational decisions. 207
- Orders Allied Forces units to regroup in groups of at least three to counter enemy guerrilla tactics. 207
- Identifies the logistics and sealing unit as the enemy's most valuable target and teleports there personally. 207
- Deduces that Obito can only operate one Six Paths ability at a time while controlling the jinchūriki. 221

Kakashi commands Allied Forces units against the reanimated Seven Ninja Swordsmen, protects the sealing logistics unit, and annihilates Jinpachi Munashi and Kushimaru Kuriarare after witnessing their torture of allied shinobi. 207 He later confronts Obito directly, accepting painful reality rather than Obito's dream world. 219 239
