Severus Snape removed his black cloak, climbed the stairs, and stopped at the door.

His calm gaze rested on the door, as though he meant to see through it and look at what lay inside.

Inside the room, Voldemort sat quietly on a sofa, his gaze fixed on the door and the corners of his mouth slightly raised.

Those red eyes truly saw through the wooden door to the man outside. His hoarse voice rang out. "Severus, why are you hesitating?"

"Are you afraid to see me?"

Besides Voldemort, there were two other people in the room.

One was Peter Pettigrew. The other was Bellatrix Lestrange, a madwoman.

At the sound of Voldemort's voice, both turned wary eyes toward the door.

Peter Pettigrew rubbed his hands, glanced at Voldemort, and hesitantly stepped forward to open it.

But before his hand could touch the handle, he was sent flying.

Voldemort had struck.

Peter Pettigrew was badly hurt. Bellatrix Lestrange looked startled, but quickly decided it was none of her concern.

She despised Peter Pettigrew, yet she had no choice but to show him a little respect.

Only because Peter Pettigrew had resurrected Voldemort and gained his protection.

"Wormtail, remember your place. You are not a doorman." Voldemort fixed his red eyes on Peter Pettigrew, frightening him so badly that he trembled.

The door opened.

A beam of magical light shot toward it.

"Avada Kedavra!"

Once again, Voldemort had attacked.

But the spell had no effect on Severus Snape. A black energy shield instantly appeared before him, blocking the lethal attack.

Severus Snape watched calmly, seemingly prepared for this scene and finding nothing amiss.

Voldemort's second attack, especially one so lethal, briefly led Bellatrix Lestrange to believe he intended to kill Severus Snape.
