An Apology

Wen Chengze had not taken the earlier incident to heart at all. It was only Mother Wen who asked him, somewhat puzzled, why he had been gone for so long.

"There were a lot of people, so I waited for a while."

Without mentioning what had happened, Wen Chengze continued shopping with Mother Wen.

Wen Chengze did not know what other mothers were like, but he had certainly learned what his own mother was capable of. They browsed everything from shoes and bags to accessories, watches, and clothes. If Wen Chengze had not stopped her, Mother Wen would probably have kept buying.

Wen Chengze seriously suspected that his walk-in closet would not fit so many clothes.

After calling home, the two of them had dinner outside before returning.

When they got home that evening, Father Wen and Wen Chenglin had already returned and were sitting on the sofa waiting for them.

"Dad, Big Brother."

"Mm. Come sit here. Were you tired after shopping with Mom all day?"

He knew his mother's abilities well enough. His little brother had probably been run ragged.

"It was alright."

Mother Wen immediately began telling them about their shopping trip. It was obvious that having her younger son accompany her had truly made her happy.

After listening to Mother Wen for a while, Father Wen advised, "You've been shopping all day. Aren't you tired? Go upstairs and soak in the bath for a while. Otherwise, you'll be complaining about sore legs again tomorrow."

Though Mother Wen was no longer young, she still could not help blushing at her husband's concern. "Alright."

Seeing how affectionate their parents were, the two brothers exchanged a glance and smiled.

After Mother Wen went upstairs, the father and sons continued watching television in the living room.

A while later, the butler came in.

"Sir, Young Masters, someone outside says they're here to deliver items from the mall."

No one thought much of it. It should have been the things they bought today.

"Let them in."

However, it was not what they had expected. Five or six neatly dressed people in suits entered, each carrying a small box.

Wen Chengze frowned. It did not seem like they had bought anything like this today.

Those people opened the boxes, revealing gleaming, dazzling watches inside. One look was enough to tell they were extremely valuable.

Wen Chengze frowned. "Did you deliver these to the wrong place?" But he was even more surprised, because these were all watches he had tried on today.

The leader smiled faintly. "There is no mistake. These were all sent to Mr. Wen Chengze by Mr. Zhong, as an apology to you."

At that, the expressions of the three people on the sofa changed.

In Haicheng, there was only one person surnamed Zhong who could be so lavish.

"You must have made a mistake. I don't know any Mr. Zhong, and I have no need for these things. Take them back."

The leader looked troubled. "This was the customer's request. We're only here to deliver them."

After much consideration, Father Wen finally said, "Leave them."

If it really was that Mr. Zhong, refusing would be useless. But when had Xiao Ze become acquainted with someone from the Zhong Household?

Father Wen and Wen Chenglin both turned their gazes toward Wen Chengze, their faces bearing the same concern.

After those people left, Father Wen immediately asked, "Xiao Ze, what is going on?"

"Dad, I don't know either. I don't know any Mr. Zhong at all." Wen Chengze was even more baffled. He had only just returned to the country; when would he have had time to meet any Mr. Zhong or Mr. Li?

Wen Chenglin frowned as well. Looking at the items, he asked, "Did you and Mom run into anyone at the mall today?"

Wen Chengze thought back and remembered someone bumping into him that morning. He briefly described what had happened.

"Could it have been that cousin of the Zhong Household?" Wen Chenglin considered it, and this was the only person who seemed to fit.

"Cousin?"
