"Although the head of the Zhong Household only had one daughter, he also had a younger brother. That brother had a grandson around your age, who was also a celebrity. He was usually rather reckless too."
Thinking it over, it was probably him.
Since it was not because of anything else, the three Wen men finally breathed a sigh of relief.
But Wen Chengze still felt something was off as he looked at those things. "I wasn't even injured. These gifts are too valuable. We should find a way to return them."
"Of course. We'll return them after this period has passed. The family gathering is coming up soon, and having close dealings with the Zhong Household right now wouldn't be a good thing." Father Wen considered his words carefully.
"Mm."
Because of this interruption, Wen Chengze no longer felt like staying downstairs to watch television. He was indeed tired from shopping all day, so after informing his father and older brother, he went upstairs.
The aftereffects of his first day of shopping lingered, and Wen Chengze did not leave the house again until the day of the Zhong Household banquet.
The banquet was set for eight in the evening. The Wen father and sons did not want to go early and put on an act of scheming and deceiving one another with that crowd. Besides, their younger son disliked crowded occasions, so they simply arrived later.
The family did not arrive until ten minutes before the banquet began.
Father Wen and Mother Wen walked in front, with their two sons following behind.
The Wen Household had not been as prosperous a few years ago as it was now. But later, Wen Chenglin joined the company. Young people had drive, and Father Wen had keenly sensed that the times might change, which was how the Wen Household attained its current standing.
At least two-thirds of those present knew the Wen Household's name.
From the moment they entered the hall, quite a few gazes fell upon them.
Wen Chengze's hand hanging at his side began to tremble faintly again, and his lips pressed together more tightly.
"That's President Wen and Mrs. Wen in front. Behind them is Young President Wen. Who's the person beside him?"
"He's so pretty. Could he be Young President Wen's lover?" someone said teasingly.
"No way. What kind of place is this? Would President Wen let his son behave so recklessly? And he even brought a man with him. How embarrassing would that be?"
Quite a few people at the banquet were whispering among themselves.
Wen Chengze had no curiosity whatsoever about what these people were saying. He only hoped the banquet would end soon, so he could get a preliminary impression of them and know how to deal with them in the future.
Since Wen Chengze had not formally participated in the company's affairs, Father Wen did not force him to socialize and simply told him to go have fun for a while.
Wen Chenglin, however, gave him a reminder. "This is the Zhong Household's villa. Don't wander around."
Wen Chengze nodded. Right now, he only wanted to find somewhere to catch his breath.
After looking around, Wen Chengze spotted a windowsill in a secluded corner. There was a sofa there, but no one was sitting on it.
After all, everyone came to this kind of banquet with the purpose of networking. Who would go running off to a corner for no reason?
But to Wen Chengze, this place was practically a treasure trove.
He casually took a glass of champagne and sat down.
Through the clear champagne, Wen Chengze surveyed the banquet hall.
He had noticed as soon as he entered that this villa occupied at least three times the area of an ordinary villa. But he had also noticed that this was probably not where the Zhong family normally lived, since the place seemed to lack any sense of life.
No wonder they were a super-elite family. Such a villa was used solely for entertaining guests.
Wen Chengze took a small sip of champagne, his gaze continuing to sweep across the room.
He had not been idle these past few days. At the very least, he had looked into the circumstances of the various families.
Wen Chengze was recalling the situations of each family, unaware that someone on the second floor of the villa was staring at him.
"Cousin, look! Isn't that the boy from that day?!"
