"Ha... it's morning already... ah."
Miao Mu yawned, sat up from the bed, rubbed the gunk from the corners of his eyes, then sat on the floor mattress and scratched his messy hair.
Jason was still snoring away on the floor. The kid slept like a wild animal, rolling all over the place like he was sleepwalking.
Miao Mu scratched his head and had barely stood up from the bed when—bang—he immediately clutched his head and squatted down, tears springing into his eyes.

The location was pretty good, beneath a large roadside water tower. The tank loomed overhead, while the floor below had been built from wooden boards, suspended above the ground by...
Miao Mu stuck his head out and looked down. Yeah, about two stories up. The interior was decent, even spacious. It was far tidier than the pigsty Miao Mu lived in, at least with everything sorted into categories.
The only problem was that the ceiling was too low. You could only walk hunched over, and if you lifted your head—bang. Your skull would ring like a bell, crisp and loud.
Sitting at the doorway, Miao Mu looked up at the gloomy sky. He could not tell what time it was, so he lifted his pant leg and took the phone strapped to his calf.
There was a reason he kept it there. If he ever ran into robbers, at least he had an emergency measure—call the police!
He checked the phone. It was already three in the afternoon.
Damn!
