But that was not the end. Inside the sphere, something seemed to be undergoing a drastic transformation. Waves of unstable magical fluctuations quickly drew the attention of the other young wizards nearby.
The young wizards around them stared at the sphere before Lyon, pointing at it in disbelief. Lyon had only just begun learning Transfiguration, yet he had already completed the lesson's requirement.
Professor McGonagall frowned. Lyon was actually trying to alter the material's inherent properties?
Transforming an object's shape was relatively elementary Transfiguration, something first-year students would spend their entire school year learning.
But changing an object's properties, such as turning wood into stone, already involved second-year knowledge.
Professor McGonagall felt somewhat displeased. Lyon's actions were, to some extent, overly ambitious.
What Lyon should have been learning now was how to master the transformation of an object's shape, not attempting a topic meant for second-years in advance.
Just as she was about to stop Lyon, the sphere before him suddenly flashed with perfect white light. The glow enveloped the entire sphere, which began to sway as though it were alive.
The air seemed to freeze, and everyone watched Lyon.
Although the Hufflepuff students did not know much about Lyon, after hearing the other Slytherin students talk about him, the image of a genius gradually took shape in their minds.
He had mastered many master-level spells, knew Grindelwald's Fire Shield, and had brewed an epic potion on his very first attempt at Potions.
And now, during his first Transfiguration lesson, he was actually trying to directly change an object's properties.
They would never have believed it if it were anyone else, but with Lyon, they felt it was possible.
Meanwhile, Lyon was still carefully pouring magic into the spell. He suddenly realized that with his current reserves, ordinary magic simply could not consume much of his power.
The magic within his body had already reached the level of an adult wizard, naturally incomparable to what he had possessed before.
As a massive amount of magic surged in, the sphere before him suddenly bloomed with a white halo.
Before Professor McGonagall and the first-year students around her, the sphere slowly began transforming into stone!
"Lyon, this is second-year coursework. You actually learned it in your very first lesson!"
Professor McGonagall stared at Lyon in astonishment. It felt rather unreasonable.
The other students nearby looked at each other in a daze, but they had already grown accustomed to Lyon's astonishing magical talent.
They might have been surprised by this degree of Transfiguration if it had happened to anyone else, but it was no longer unusual when it came to Lyon.
But Lyon's movements had not ended yet. The sphere, which had already turned into stone, flashed with another white halo.
This transformation was even faster. Lyon cut off the magical connection, and the sphere before him had completely become an iron ball.
"Lyon, for your perfect Transfiguration, Slytherin earns 10 points!"
Throughout the entire class, Professor McGonagall had barely awarded anyone else points, yet she gave Lyon 10 points.
That alone showed Lyon's proficiency in Transfiguration.
"Lyon, had you studied practical applications of Transfiguration before?"
Professor McGonagall looked at Lyon in disbelief, but he shook his head.
"Professor, I only read some books on Transfiguration before. I had never practiced it."
Lyon's answer startled Professor McGonagall once again.
"A rare talent, capable of truly changing physical properties."
But Lyon shook his head. "Professor, this is only the most basic Transfiguration. I will not be proud of myself over this. What I want to learn more is Transfiguration that can be applied in practical situations."
Professor McGonagall raised an eyebrow. "What do you want to learn?"
Lyon grinned. "Animagus."
Little Hermione beside him widened her eyes in disbelief. She never imagined that Lyon would want to learn Animagus right after school began.
Was Animagus something ordinary people could learn?
She had heard that only a few people were registered with the Ministry of Magic. Was that really something one could simply decide to learn?
The Hufflepuff students nearby were completely dumbfounded. They had never attended class with Lyon before, so naturally they were shocked to see how quickly he progressed.
But the surrounding Slytherin students found it perfectly normal. If their godfather's progress was not fast enough, they would even suspect that Lyon had not been taking things seriously.
"Animagus is an extremely advanced form of Transfiguration. It is not something you can learn so easily."
After saying that, Professor McGonagall fell silent for a moment. She felt somewhat tempted.
It had been a long time since she had seen a student so talented and so willing to work hard.
"Ahem, Lyon, if you are willing, you may come to my office anytime. I can help you make up the lessons you missed over the past few days."
Professor McGonagall phrased it rather tactfully, but everyone around them understood what she meant.
Private tutoring!
Blatant private tutoring!
Although the other students were somewhat envious, what could they do when they did not have that kind of talent?
The lesson soon ended. Aside from Lyon, more than a dozen Slytherin students had turned the wood before them into perfect spheres—though for some reason, Neville's sphere was much smaller.
After class, little Hermione looked at Lyon with resentment in her eyes.
Over the past few days, other than staying by Lyon's side, she had been buried in the library, always trying to catch up with him.
Unfortunately, Lyon was simply too fast.
His pace was unbelievably fast, so fast that little Hermione could barely keep up with his learning progress.
"Did you secretly study Transfiguration in the Hospital Wing just so I could not catch up to you?"
Hermione puffed out her cheeks angrily as the two walked toward the library.
Lyon instinctively ruffled little Hermione's messy hair. "No. I just happen to be interested in these things."
The two arrived at the library. The moment they entered, they saw Madam Pince with a stern expression.
Under Madam Pince's warning gaze, they quietly made their way toward the bookshelves. They searched among the many shelves for a long time before finally finding several books.
The Extinction of Elder Fire Dragons
On the Ferocity of Fire Dragon Species
And other books, while Hermione picked out some study materials for the current school year.
Lyon wanted to see whether there were any records of how to breed Elder Fire Dragons, but he discovered that such information was truly difficult to find in ordinary books.
Most books only briefly mentioned it: "Elder Fire Dragons possess extraordinarily vast magical energy, and even their incubation methods are extremely complicated, so..."
Lyon frowned and flipped to the book's cover in exasperation. He wanted to see who had written this book...
Newt Scamander
Lyon raised an eyebrow. He had not expected to see the protagonist from the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them films.
Still, Lyon closed the book. He had not found any method for breeding Elder Fire Dragons in these books.
Perhaps he needed to go a step further and search the Restricted Section.
"Godfather Lyon! Godfather Lyon!"
Suddenly, a voice rang out in the previously silent library.
It was not loud, but it was exceptionally clear within the library.
"Sir! This is a library, not your dormitory! You had better quiet down!"
Madam Pince's voice rose several times louder, drowning out the earlier shout.
"I know, sorry, but I need to find someone!"
Then, in Lyon's line of sight, a figure staggered toward him.
Lyon looked over. It was Neville.
What did he want from him?
"Godfather Lyon, you are in trouble!"
