Background / History

Qian Daoliu awakened the Angel Martial Soul at six with innate Rank 20 soul power. His father later fell during a campaign against the Fallen Ones, leaving Qian Daoliu with a lasting desire for revenge and the resolve to strengthen himself. 29

He became a Title Douluo at twenty-five. By forty-five, he had reached Rank 99, surpassed his father, and become Pope of Papal Hall. With Golden Crocodile and five comrades, he led a decisive campaign against the Fallen Ones. Though victorious, he found the continent devastated by conflict and chose to call a truce and rebuild rather than continue fighting. 29

During his earlier travels, Qian Daoliu and an old friend—both Rank 99—fought on an isolated island and encountered Bo Saixi, Sea God Island’s Rank 99 worshipper. He retained a hidden portrait of her for years, but eventually accepted that the past had passed and chose to focus on the family he had in the present. 23 28

He first recognized Su Xiao Mo as Qian Renxue’s child after summoning his Angel Martial Soul and seeing that Xiao Mo recognized it as identical to her mother’s. The discovery made him both overjoyed at gaining a great-granddaughter and furious at the unknown man who had taken Qian Renxue away. 3

Qian Daoliu has golden hair and a youthful appearance despite his age, generally looking no older than his thirties or forties. He carries an imposing, sacred bearing consistent with the Angel Martial Soul. 3 24

Personality

Qian Daoliu is publicly known as refined, restrained, and gentlemanly, having deliberately suppressed the harsher nature he developed in the wars against the Fallen Ones. When he was Pope, however, he ruled through overwhelming force and made hostile sects and Fallen Ones fear Spirit Hall’s authority. 24 26 29

His composure vanishes where his family is concerned. He competes with the other consecrators for Xiao Mo’s affection, spoils her without concern for cost, and makes public threats against anyone who might target her. 5 24 25 After Xiao Mo was bullied while traveling with him, he blamed his own negligence, promised never to let her be harmed again, and changed the purpose he saw in his sword from conquest to protection. 28 29
