Background / History

Bibi Dong serves as Spirit Hall's Pope. When she receives intelligence that the seven consecrators mobilized over Xiao Mo, she becomes curious about the child’s apparent connection to her and seeks a meeting despite expecting the consecrators to oppose it 6.

Her first meeting with Xiao Mo is tense. She questions the child sternly and releases an intimidating aura, but identifies herself as Xiao Mo’s grandmother by accurately describing Qian Renxue’s distinctive birthmarks. Although Azure Luan Douluo removes Xiao Mo from the encounter, Xiao Mo later sneaks into Bibi Dong’s room; Bibi Dong comforts her, lets her stay, and begins to show maternal affection rather than her usual Papal severity 7.

After accepting Xiao Mo as family, Bibi Dong permits her to visit the Papal Hall, arranges for Yue Guan and Gui Mei to accompany her while she works, and promises that Xiao Mo may sleep with her whenever she wishes 13. Her bond with Xiao Mo gradually changes her priorities: she smiles more often and begins wanting to retire from the Papacy to raise her grandchildren 13 24 39.

Su Yan later confronts Bibi Dong over her treatment of Qian Renxue. During their clash, he identifies the Rakshasa God’s influence within her, severs her inheritance mark, and leaves the Rakshasa God unconscious. Regaining clarity afterward, Bibi Dong asks to apologize to Qian Renxue and Xiao Mo; the three reconcile after speaking through the night 20 21.

Bibi Dong subsequently embraces her role as Qian Renxue’s mother and Su Yan’s mother-in-law. Her initial hostility toward Qian Renxue and Su Yan stems partly from the Rakshasa God’s influence. Once freed from it, she becomes more reflective, recognizes her past failures, and seeks reconciliation with her daughter and granddaughter 20 21.
