Lightning Power

Chen Xu used his Lightning Magic, and in an instant, a large number of Chitauri fell from the sky. Thor swung Mjolnir, summoning Lightning Power and launching an attack directly at the cosmic wormhole. The Chitauri pouring out of it could be electrocuted with ease, but little by little, their numbers grew greater and greater, and they gradually found themselves unable to keep up.

Meanwhile, the cowardly Westerners on the ground continued to stand around and watch. It had to be said that this proved that watching from the sidelines was not an Eastern trait, but human nature.

But as more and more Chitauri appeared, some of them began attacking the crowd directly. Only then did they realize they needed to run for their lives.

S.H.I.E.L.D. also deployed all its fighter jets to intercept the Chitauri.

"Hey, mage, need a hand?"

Chen Xu looked over and saw Iron Man, Stark. He had thought Stark had already run away. Chen Xu had originally believed Loki would place the wormhole somewhere else, but he had actually opened it above Stark Tower! Looks like he wants to provoke us.

Inside S.H.I.E.L.D.'s helicarrier at that moment,

"Why are only that mage and Thor in the skies over New York? Where are Stephen, Hulk, and Black Widow?"

"They're on their way."

"What?"

Nick Fury was speechless as well.

The Chitauri's weapons were simply too advanced for Earth. The city guards and the fighter jets that had been dispatched had no time to shoot them all down. Steve and Black Widow reached the battlefield, followed closely by Hulk.

However, as several Leviathan biological weapons flew toward them, the battle immediately grew tense. Thor swung Mjolnir, carrying a powerful force of Thor's Power, and electrocuted one of them outright.

Stark also used all the energy in his armor, crashing straight through a Leviathan's mouth and piercing it clean through. But he was spent afterward, unable to continue fighting. Hulk also killed one with his immense strength, but even more Leviathans came charging toward Earth, carrying huge numbers of Chitauri on their backs. Everyone immediately felt enormous pressure.

Thor spoke to Chen Xu.

"This can't go on. There are too many of them."

Chen Xu looked at the Chitauri and felt a headache coming on.

"Hold them off for now. I'll go see where their command center is. I'll destroy it directly."

With that, he flew straight into the cosmic wormhole. After entering it, Chen Xu appeared in an unfamiliar region of space. Before him was a planet composed of countless spacecraft, with innumerable Chitauri aboard them. As Chen Xu looked at the ships, the Chitauri flew toward him, and countless energy beams shot in his direction.

Chen Xu immediately used the Evolved Phoenix Force. Drawing inspiration from the cosmic magic shield earlier, he gathered pure energy around himself and formed an energy shield. All the energy beams fired at him were blocked.

"Which one is the flagship?"

Chen Xu directly used Omega Rays, intending to pierce through that planet.

An incomparably terrifying crimson energy beam shot toward the Chitauri. Everything it touched was pulverized. The Chitauri who had blocked his view were wiped away, leaving the space before him open. Yet the Chitauri did not stop attacking. Instead, they fired even denser energy beams at Chen Xu, but he blocked every one of them.

Back on Earth,

"I do not agree to launch a nuclear missile. I believe my team can handle all of this."

"Your team can handle all of this? Are you sure? You're deceiving yourself. At a time like this, we should launch a nuclear missile and destroy that wormhole, preventing those invaders from entering. Do you know how many enemies are inside that wormhole? And your team only has a few people."

Nick Fury was left speechless by the people from the American Consulate.

"No matter what, I firmly oppose launching a nuclear missile."

But none of this was within his control.

"Director, a fighter jet carrying a nuclear missile has taken off."

"What? I never gave that order. Who acted on their own authority?"

Nick Fury grabbed an RPG launcher and rushed toward the departing fighter jet, but it was already too late. The plane had taken off, and the nuclear missile it carried was flying toward the heart of New York, effectively sentencing everyone in the city to death.

Nick Fury stared at the scene, his gaze somewhat vacant. The next second, he relayed the news to Stark.

Stark immediately cursed loudly.

"What the fuck? You've got to be kidding me, Nick Fury. We're still fighting here, and you people launch a nuclear missile from behind us? How can you do this to us, to all of New York? We haven't reached that point yet, have we?"

"I didn't give that order. Those bastards from the American Consulate did."

Captain America, Steve, was also furious. He had always been loyal to his country's orders, defending America, defending the world. Yet his own country wanted them to die and wanted its people to die. For the first time, his resolve to remain loyal to this era's nation was shaken.

"Is there any way we can stop it?"

This time, Stark spoke up.

"I'll handle it."

Stark redirected all his power to the thrusters on his legs. Ignoring the attacks above and below him, he shot upward and pushed the nuclear missile toward the cosmic wormhole.

"Stark, stop!"

But could Stark stop now?

Everyone watched as Stark sent the nuclear missile into the cosmic wormhole.

Stark slowly entered the cosmic wormhole. Naturally, he saw Chen Xu fighting the Chitauri army amid that starry expanse, a sight that utterly shattered his worldview and left him unbelievably shocked. He cried out in alarm.

He saw Chen Xu, using the Evolved Phoenix Force, transform into a golden-red phoenix. Like a god, he stood in the depths of the dark starry sky, facing countless Chitauri and their fleet. Countless energy beams struck directly at Chen Xu, yet they could not break the energy shield on his body. Compared to Chen Xu, they were practically playing house.

"Oh, God, what the fuck am I seeing? I'm seeing God."

Stark's cry was heard by the others as well. Captain America, Steve, hurriedly asked,

"Stark, what did you see?"

That was what everyone wanted to know right now. But Stark did not answer them.
