Background / History

Zuo Xiaoqing began as an outer disciple of the First Saint Sect, though her Left Clan background gave her unusual privileges: she cultivated at her family’s cave abode, was exempt from ordinary sect missions, and only needed to join major events. She openly regarded lineage and background as a form of strength, and she intended to secure a core-disciple position for herself. 30

Her first encounter with Ye Xingchen is a paid spar at Black Dragon Pool. A dedicated body cultivator known for beating fellow body-refining disciples, she offers him five Blood-Coagulating Pills regardless of victory or defeat as long as he fights seriously. Ye Xingchen ultimately wins, but Zuo Xiaoqing acknowledges the result after forcing him to reveal his abilities. 17 18

After witnessing Ye Xingchen’s success at stone gambling, she admits that she misjudged him and invites him to the Left Clan estate. The invitation brings Ye Xingchen into the Left Clan’s effort to obtain Innate Spiritual Milk for their endangered Nascent Soul ancestor. 34
