History

The Heaven Dou Empire initially gained considerable prestige from the Douluo Continent Prodigy Ranking. Eight of the ten ranked prodigies were either natives of the empire or lived within its territory, leading Emperor Xue Ye to celebrate Heaven Dou’s apparent dominance in young talent. 17

This advantage was undermined when Prince Xue Beng drove Shrek Academy’s teachers and students away from Heaven Dou Imperial Academy. Their failed enrollment also preceded Tang San’s kidnapping by Dugu Bo. Furious at losing the chance to recruit prominent prodigies, Xue Ye ordered Xue Beng seized and brought before him for punishment. 17

The empire had already been secretly infiltrated by Spirit Hall. Under Bibi Dong’s plan, Qian Renxue killed Crown Prince Xue Qinghe, assumed his identity through a head soul bone’s disguise ability and a human-skin mask, and later killed the second and third princes to secure her position as crown prince. The intended outcome was for her to inherit Xue Ye’s throne and turn Heaven Dou into a Spirit Hall puppet state. 22

The Golden Ranking publicly exposed the infiltration and the deaths of Xue Ye’s sons, causing the emperor to faint. Although he resented Qian Renxue, he ultimately chose not to pursue revenge, judging that Heaven Dou could not withstand Spirit Hall’s many powerful Soul Masters, including Bibi Dong, Qian Daoliu, and more than ten other Titled Douluos. 22 83

As the Sun Moon Empire’s strength became known, Heaven Dou’s rulers were among the leaders who began to see submission as the only realistic response to Xu Que’s planned conquest of Douluo Continent. 52

• Spirit Hall infiltration — Qian Renxue’s decade-long impersonation of Xue Qinghe exposed a severe failure in the imperial court’s security and succession. 22 83

• National treasure at risk — Xu Que ordered subordinates to seek the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud from Heaven Dou Palace after learning of its relevance to the Sea God’s Heart. 129
