Geography
Sun Moon Continent lies across a vast, soul-beast-infested sea east of Douluo Continent. Even a Titled Douluo cannot normally make the crossing, as doing so requires surviving both the distance and the powerful sea soul beasts along the route. 28
The continent also has a Far North, though it is a silent wasteland rather than a frozen region. An enormous Otherworld Gate stands atop a mountain there, surrounded by spatial-temporal power and a fallen aura. 88
Known Locations
- Sun Moon Imperial Palace — Imperial seat of Xu Que and location of Lingyan Pavilion. 1
- Evil Demon Forest — Territory of the Evil Emperor. 78
- Far North — Wasteland containing an Otherworld Gate guarded by Qiongqi and Taotie. 88
- Dragon Palace — Force established by the Azure Dragon; regarded as the Sun Moon Empire's second-strongest force. 96
- Demon Court — Realm ruled by the Great Sage. 104
- Sun-Moon Island — Formerly Sea God Island; conquered by the empire and renamed by Xiang Yu. 10
Political Structure
Unlike the Heaven Dou and Star Luo Empires, the Sun Moon Empire has no subordinate kingdoms or duchies. The entire Sun Moon Continent is directly governed by the empire. 28
The continent's name is explicitly tied to the Sun Moon Empire's existence. The Xu Clan rules the empire, with the Sun as its inherited martial soul. 28
History
Before its unification, the region was divided among more than one hundred kingdoms. Xu Que arrived on Sun Moon Continent more than twenty years earlier and spent over a decade unifying it through his Twin Martial Souls, transforming the Sun Moon Kingdom into the Sun Moon Empire. 3 37
The empire commemorates the officials who helped establish it through Lingyan Pavilion, where Xu Que painted portraits of twenty-four meritorious officials. 1
Chen Qingzhi was particularly instrumental during the unification campaigns. He conquered the Northern Wei Kingdom after forty-seven battles in three days, destroyed more than 100,000 elite troops of the Kindwater Kingdom with 3,000 cavalry, and was credited with destroying more than a dozen of the continent's kingdoms. 37
Expansion and External Policy
Xu Que dispatched nine armies toward Sea God Island west of Douluo Continent. The approaching force was identified by the “Sun” and “Moon” flags flown by all nine ships. 3 6
Xiang Yu defeated Bo Saixi, claimed Sea God Island for the Sun Moon Empire, and declared that it would henceforth be called Sun-Moon Island. 10
With Sea God Island secured, Xu Que identified Douluo Continent as his next conquest target. Acquiring territory outside Sun Moon Continent would increase the national fortune available to his Imperial Jade Seal and accelerate his cultivation. 51
The empire also anticipates an invasion through the Otherworld Gates. Xu Que intends to unite the Douluo and Sun Moon Continents before that conflict begins. 88
Military and Notable Forces
