Background / History

In the Sky Screen’s first parallel-world account, Gu Yuena is among the powerful soul beasts whom the Titan Giant Ape brings Qin Li to meet in Star Dou Forest. Qin Li recognizes her as “Aunt Gu Yuena” after recalling Qin Feng’s praise for her work toward peaceful human–soul beast coexistence. Gu Yuena then reveals that Qin Feng asked her to teach Qin Li for a time. 10 11

When Qin Li reaches level sixty at age twelve, Gu Yuena delivers a Heaven-Given Spirit Ring sent by Qin Feng. She also provides a complete set of 300,000-year soul bones, including an external bone from a hundred-thousand-year Demon Fox, and leads Qin Li to Slaughter City for further training. Before leaving, she eliminates a group of people who were staring at her with improper intentions. 12

After Qin Li completes Hell Road and reaches level seventy, Gu Yuena welcomes her outside Slaughter City, recognizes her progress with the Nine Swords of Dugu, and gives her another Heaven-Given Spirit Ring. She later accompanies Qin Li through major stages of her growth, including her seventh-ring acquisition, Sea God Island training, and eventual godhood. 15 16 19

When Qin Li achieves Dual Godhood through the Eastern Emperor Bell, Gu Yuena suppresses the resulting aura to protect the surroundings. She reveals that Qin Feng had prepared the Time Sword and Space Shears for Qin Li’s attainment of the Godhoods of Space and Time. Gu Yuena subsequently reminds Qin Li of the gods who targeted her, prompting Qin Li’s retaliation in the God Realm. 23 24

In the current world, Gu Yuena awakens prematurely in Star Dou Forest despite her injuries. She believes the Sky Screen—or Qin Feng—may offer a way to heal her, and decides to personally search for Qin Feng despite Di Tian’s warnings that the God Realm could notice her presence. 32

During Qin Yun’s parallel-world story, Gu Yuena warmly accepts Qin Yun as her niece, gifts her a foundation-strengthening fruit grown near the Mountain Dragon King’s remains, and guides Qin Feng and Qin Yun through Star Dou Forest to find Evil Soul Beasts suitable for Qin Yun’s Soul Rings. 41 42

Personality

Gu Yuena is composed, authoritative, and deeply protective of the soul beast clan. Even while wounded, she is willing to risk exposure to the God Realm in pursuit of a solution for both herself and her people. Di Tian’s concerns do not change her decision once she resolves to act. 32

Around Qin Li and Qin Yun, she is patient, affectionate, and generous. She provides both girls with valuable cultivation resources and accepts being addressed as their aunt. Her warmth is especially evident when she praises Qin Yun’s appearance and carefully explains the benefit of her gift. 12 41

She also displays open affection and jealousy toward Qin Feng. Although she welcomes him warmly, she resents that he usually visits Star Dou Forest only when he needs assistance, particularly when he otherwise remains with Zhu Zhuyun. 11 18 41
