History

Xie Yue traveled from Spirit City with Hu Liena and Yan to acquire his fourth Soul Ring, accompanied by Spirit Hall personnel. Near the Rose Hotel, he stopped after sensing a strangely familiar aura from Qin Feng, though Qin Feng appeared to possess no soul-power aura; Xie Yue dismissed the sensation as a possible hallucination. 1

The Sky Screen’s parallel-world footage revealed a version of Xie Yue as Qin Li’s uncle. In that world, he returned from an absence carrying a two-hundred-thousand-year right-arm soul bone for her, originally intended for his own use. Qin Li refused it and asked only that he hold her, after which Xie Yue agreed to keep the soul bone and prepare another gift. 3

Earlier footage showed his excitement at Qin Li’s birth, when he asked to hold her and celebrated the arrival of a descendant in their family. He later participated in her tenth-birthday celebration. By that point, Qian Daoliu referred to him as Elder Xie Yue and noted that he, Qin Feng, and Hu Liena had not ascended to the God Realm despite becoming gods. 2 8 9

During the current-world soul-ring hunt, Xie Yue initially urged Hu Liena to absorb a nearly eight-thousand-year Soul Ring. She declined, believing her evolved martial soul would allow her to obtain an older ring, and told him to absorb it instead. After briefly becoming distracted by her growing acceptance of Qin Li, Xie Yue sat down and began absorbing the ring. 11 12

After Hu Liena accepted the parallel-world memories and recognized Qin Feng as the person she had been waiting for, Xie Yue supported her choice. He also began treating Qin Li as the niece he expected to have in the future. 27 29

Xie Yue eventually realized that Qin Feng was the man he had encountered near the Rose Hotel on the day the Sky Screen appeared. He located Qin Feng’s room, summoned Hu Liena, and deliberately left the two alone to reunite. 28

He then remained outside the hotel with Spirit Hall guards and elders to prevent disturbances. The hotel’s other guests were compensated and relocated. Although he hoped the reunion would bring Qin Li’s birth closer, he worried that Bibi Dong might punish him for facilitating Hu Liena’s overnight stay. Chrysanthemum Douluo reassured him that the elders had accompanied them with the Pope’s approval. Xie Yue was subsequently astonished and delighted to learn that Hu Liena had become a Soul Emperor overnight. 29

Following Hu Liena’s overnight breakthrough, Qin Feng had Xie Yue brought to his room and gave him a lotus seed capable of evolving his martial soul. Xie Yue accepted it immediately and returned to rest, expecting to discover its effects the following day. 30

As the Sky Screen revealed Qin Yun’s parallel world, Xie Yue continued to treat Qin Feng as his brother-in-law. He praised Qin Feng’s favorable attitude toward Spirit Hall, questioned whether the institution would join the Fengyun Empire, and participated in speculation about Qin Feng’s connection to his alternate-world selves. 33 38 52 54

Later, Xie Yue arranged for people to gather medicinal herbs requested by Qin Feng and brought them to him personally, taking a reluctant Yan along. He argued that personally delivering the herbs would allow them, rather than attendants, to receive any rewards. To persuade Yan, he cited rumors that Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo had reached Level 99 after taking Qin Feng’s medicine, while also encouraging him to maintain their old companionship despite Hu Liena’s relationship. 74 75

Zhu Zhuyun welcomed them, and Xie Yue jokingly addressed her as “sister-in-law.” After checking the herbs, Qin Feng rewarded both men with spatial rings and Purple Gold Pills. Hu Liena explained the pills’ ability to raise Soul Power by ten levels and urged Xie Yue not to save his for later, emphasizing the importance of becoming stronger for his safety. Understanding her concern, he promised to take the pill when he returned home and departed with Yan. 75

Personality

Xie Yue is intensely devoted to Hu Liena and takes obvious joy in her growth. When her martial soul evolves into the Nine-Tailed Fox, he is more excited than she is and disregards her repeated objections to him calling Qin Li his niece. 5

He is affectionate and generous toward the parallel-world Qin Li, willingly giving up a highly valuable soul bone for her. His attachment to the idea of becoming her uncle carries over into the current world, where he actively facilitates Qin Feng and Hu Liena’s reunion. 3 28 29

He can also be teasing and overly familiar, repeatedly calling Qin Feng “brother-in-law” immediately after meeting him again. Despite this, he is perceptive about Yan’s pain and attempts to preserve their friendship while making clear that Hu Liena has chosen Qin Feng. 28 31

His protectiveness extends to Qin Li even before her current-world birth. After watching a god’s attack endanger her, he angrily declared that, if he became a god, he would kill the god who bullied his niece. He also noticed Hu Liena’s concern for Qin Li and teased her about it. 22

Xie Yue is pragmatic and openly opportunistic about Qin Feng’s support. He considers improved strength more important than rigid forms of address or personal dignity, and willingly cultivates a close family-like relationship with Qin Feng and Zhu Zhuyun. Nevertheless, his pursuit of benefits coexists with genuine affection: he brings Yan along because they grew up together and wants both to help him recover emotionally and obtain resources for cultivation. 74 75

He is responsive to Hu Liena’s concern for him. Although the Purple Gold Pill’s value initially makes him consider its usefulness at a higher cultivation stage, he agrees to use it promptly after recognizing that his sister fears losing him through insufficient strength. 75
