Background and History

Xiao Yu is a transmigrator who originally sought admission to righteous sects. He was rejected because of his background, lack of wealth, and Four-Element Spiritual Root, then spent eight months as a Hehuan Sect menial disciple before becoming an outer disciple. 6 14

While captured by the Jade Maiden Sect, he is tortured for information about the Hehuan Sect. Bai Yue’s side kills A Xiang, a mortal who had cared for him, and Xiao Yu is later resurrected after being killed by Ye Zhirou. 1 30 39

After returning to the Hehuan Sect, Xiao Yu binds the Wicked Woman Judgment System and identifies the disguised, crippled Bai Yue. He confines her in the Judgment Room, making her both the focus of his revenge and a source of cultivation knowledge. 1 2 6

Elder Wu briefly accepts Xiao Yu as a disciple and assigns him to the pill-refining room. After Wu’s death, Xiao Yu takes charge of the alchemy room, rescues Hua Lian, and develops enough skill to refine first-grade pills without spiritual power. 7 9 10

Jiangliu Mountain and the Alchemy Room

Xiao Yu accepts a herb-gathering mission to Jiangliu Mountain, where he is caught between Hehuan Sect and righteous-path cultivators. He uses a Bloodburst Pill to survive and unexpectedly saves Bai Yue after initially intending to use her as a shield. 3 4

After returning to the Hehuan Sect, he becomes central to the Riverflow Branch’s pill production. His rescue of Hua Lian, management of Elder Wu’s former alchemy room, and first-grade alchemy establish him as an asset Zhang Ziling cannot easily discard. 8 9 10 12

Taking Zhang Ziling as Master

Xiao Yu earns Zhang Ziling’s acceptance by offering a plan to redirect the battlefield toward the Jade Maiden Sect’s former territory. He subsequently accepts her formal discipleship and receives a low-grade short bow. 21

Ye Zimei and the Branch Battle

Xiao Yu encounters Ye Zimei, Ye Zhirou’s younger sister, after obtaining the Ghost Wolf Lock from Fire Monk. He defeats her using the Ghost Wolf Lock, his puppets, the Thousand Fragrances, Ten Thousand Beauties Painting, and a temporary Bloodburst Pill boost. 42 43
