According to Newt, the Ancient Ruins he had entered were populated mainly by spirits. Demonic Beasts and Synthetic Beasts existed there too, but the techniques behind them were nothing impressive; they seemed crudely cobbled together. The various spirits, on the other hand, were extraordinarily powerful.
