Core Region

Prepared, Green entered the ruins. This time, he used no Potion. With the Map and Yaxi's memories, he had gained some understanding of how the ruins operated. Their dangers posed far less of a threat to him now.

Green used Sorcery to lighten his weight and quickly reached the hall above the Core Region.

As a passage to the other areas, the hall was vast and dim. Once inside, Green released his Mental Power and had the Chip scan his surroundings. Only after confirming no one was nearby did he begin exploring the hall carefully.

The hall was still dark. Although Green could see in the darkness, he wanted a better view. Frowning, he raised his left hand and murmured an incantation, casting a simple illumination spell.

A point of white light expanded from Green's left hand until it became a huge glowing sphere. It shone brilliantly, stretching his shadow long across the floor.

With a gentle toss, he sent the sphere floating toward the hall's vaulted ceiling. Light streamed in every direction, exposing a hall that had not seen daylight in ages.

Green wasted no time. He took a handful of seeds from his bracelet and scattered them, bringing forth a host of Little Treants. As soon as they appeared, he ordered them to search. Under the light, they worked much more efficiently, shuffling across the floor, tapping and knocking as they searched for a passage below.

Green turned to the patterns carved into the hall's walls. In the white light, they revealed their true appearance. His Puppet Clone had seen them before, but its Mental Power had been too weak to study them closely. It had merely recorded the patterns for the Chip to analyze.

Green examined the carvings. They were unlike runes, which were mostly separate entities.
