Testing the Potion

After about ten days, Green put all the remaining materials into his bracelet, counting them as supplies consumed by failed experiments. Then he took three finished vials of Tears of All Souls Potion and left the laboratory.

Green brought the potions to Randalot. He had long since run out of patience and immediately recruited apprentices at the Academy who were willing to take part in the experiment!

The potion trial began quickly. The Academy had no shortage of people willing to test potions.

The Black Wizards' earlier surprise attack had forced the Academy to lower its admission standards. Apprentices with poorer aptitudes meditated more slowly and fell behind the other students. When they saw the generous reward offered for the Academy's task and the potion's promised effects, they were naturally willing to take the risk.

The trial would not take place in Green's laboratory, but in a public testing room dedicated to alchemy. White House Academy had a designated place for serious work like potion trials.

Of course, only the White House Organization paid attention to such things. Black Wizards generally grabbed their own apprentices and experimented on them, often leaving them neither human nor ghost.

In the testing room, a huge glass wall separated the test subjects from the alchemists. Inside, instruments designed to detect fluctuations of the soul hummed.

The three apprentices inside looked around uneasily, their eyes darting about. They were clearly far from calm. All three volunteers had Second- or Third-Class Aptitude: two men and one woman.

Outside the testing room, a crowd of alchemists from the Potion Academy looked curiously at Green, who stood at the front.

Everyone was curious about Green. What kind of potion could persuade their dean to vouch for him?
