Awakening from a Second Slumber

Time flew. Green slept within the sun, and with its help, his bloodline steadily released its power, pushing toward ever greater heights.

A hundred years later, the East Coast had changed dramatically.

First came the matter of Despair Force. A new kind of Wizard developed by White House Academy—the Despair Force Wizard—had begun to spread across the entire East Coast.

This new path demanded very few resources. Its only requirement was enough despair.

But the leaders of the major powers had also discovered how difficult Despair Force was to control. The feeling of power growing so quickly could easily lead a Wizard down an evil path.

During the early research, many Wizards on the Despair Force Path had given in to the temptation of power and inflicted mass casualties on mortals.

So, after the major powers discussed the matter, they held a grand ritual to communicate directly with the Origin of the Wizarding World!

Under the East Coast's ritual, every Wizard who cultivated the Despair Force Path had to swear an oath to the Origin of the Wizarding World at the cost of their own soul: while following this path, they would never harm the mortals of the Wizarding World on a large scale.

As for where the line for "large scale" lay, that was naturally for the Origin of the Wizarding World to decide.

Thus, anyone who deliberately harmed mortals might have their soul claimed by the World Will before their victims even numbered a few dozen.

With that restriction in place, the major powers could rest easy, and Wizards on the Despair Force Path began spreading wildly across the East Coast.

They could not harm the mortals of the Wizarding World, but other races and the resistance forces of the Ice World were not covered by that oath.
