The explosive popularity of Perfume House naturally drew the covetous eyes of countless wolves, but after learning of Green's record, they all fell silent and cast aside their greed. Anyone who could rise to a high position was no fool. If the returns did not match the risks, no one would take the job.
Green attended an industry conference hosted by Tulip Trading Company, where several well-known trading companies signed contracts. These companies would export the perfumes to various countries, while Green was responsible only for supplying them. Once the deals were completed, Green would take sixty percent of the profits. To prevent the companies from secretly making deals and deliberately lowering perfume prices, Green also set a minimum price. No matter what price the perfumes sold for, the major companies had to guarantee Green a minimum return.
Although the terms were somewhat overbearing, none of the major trading companies showed any dissatisfaction. Instead, they were exceptionally proactive. Under such circumstances, they should have been thanking heaven and earth that their companies could survive.
Over the next half year, Green also concocted several ordinary perfumes. Although they were far inferior to the perfumes made with Stinky Flower as the raw material, they still far surpassed the perfumes on the market. These perfumes could be made with readily available materials, and the process was not particularly troublesome. They could serve as mass-produced models. With Green's perfumes crushing the competition, Perfume House quickly monopolized the entire market.
Ever since Perfume House became wildly popular, Green had handed its management over to Aishweil, Leila, and Mia. He became a hands-off boss. Green did not have that much time to manage it; his experiments were more important.
After handing off the matters at hand, Green began carrying out his plan step by step. In a short time, he gathered the contents of every book in Ellendal Harbor. Chip's scanning and storage functions allowed Green to absorb vast amounts of knowledge in a short time. He also commissioned the major trading companies to purchase rare books and materials from outside. Under this frenzied buying spree, Green truly did acquire some useful things.
In the laboratory beneath the villa, Green was conducting an experiment. The once cramped laboratory had been expanded several times over and was now far more fully equipped. Backed by vast sums of money, Green could conduct experiments as freely as he pleased.
The laboratory was still filled with all sorts of exotic flowers, plants, insects, and animals. Green, dressed in a white lab coat, stood before the experiment table. Strangely, his hands were not moving at all, yet the beakers before him continuously flew about, accurately carrying out one experiment after another.
"Wizard's Hand really is useful. It synchronizes with the user's thoughts without the slightest error, and its consumption is low too. No wonder it's called a must-learn spell for wizard experiments." Green sighed. After he began frantically collecting books and knowledge, he found hidden content in one of the books. It was precisely the Wizard's Hand spell. This spell could not provide much combat power, but it was of tremendous help in wizard experiments. As long as a wizard's spiritual power was strong enough, Wizard's Hand could even be used to conduct multiple experiments at once.
Through constant meditation, Green had solidified eight runes and become a Third-Class Apprentice. With Chip's help, he constructed the model for this spell and successfully cast it. After succeeding for the first time, Green kept using it out of fascination, until he finally fell asleep from excessive spiritual power consumption.
With Chip, Green could use Wizard's Hand to perform all kinds of precise operations. He could even manipulate five objects at once, far surpassing ordinary Wizard Apprentices. Even the Formal Wizards recorded in the books were only at this level.
Under Green's continuous manipulation, all kinds of experimental reagents were dripped into the beaker before him. As the reagents entered, the liquid in the beaker took on different colors. Together with the ceaseless bubbling and the multicolored gases rising from it, it looked dangerously volatile at a glance.
"Now for the final step." Green looked at the constantly shifting potion. He turned to the side, where a thirty-centimeter-long wormlike creature slowly wriggled inside a huge beaker.
This wormlike creature resembled a leech. Its blackish-green body made people uneasy at first sight. The two feelers on its head continuously extended and contracted, as if probing the environment outside. Its mouth was ringed with serrated teeth and had a structure similar to a suction cup. One look was enough to make one's skin crawl.
"Helos Parasite, a parasite that lives within large whales. Who would have thought that beneath such a horrifying appearance, it possessed the ability to help large whales repair their bodies?"
Green had discovered this creature by accident. At one banquet, food made from a large whale was served. While Green was eating, Chip suddenly detected something unusual. That was how Green discovered this parasite and its restorative ability. When it parasitized a large whale, if the whale suffered a fatal injury, it would alter its form and continuously release some kind of nourishing substance, helping the whale rapidly recover and preventing its injuries from worsening.
Under extreme circumstances, after leaving behind a parasite egg, the Helos Parasite inside the whale could even transform its body into a structure similar to a Life Seed, directly converting itself into life force to save its host.
The moment Green discovered this creature, he understood its enormous potential. If he could fully understand its principles, he might be able to create artificial Life Seeds.
Green manipulated Wizard's Hand to lift the Helos Parasite. A syringe flew up from the other side and plunged into the parasite's body without hesitation, beginning to draw blood. Feeling the blood drain from its body, the Helos Parasite began struggling. Its head flailed wildly through the air, while disgusting mucus continuously poured from its mouth.
But it was all futile. As more and more blood was drawn, the movements of the Helos Parasite's head grew smaller and smaller until they finally stopped completely.
Green looked at the drawn blood, then casually tossed the Helos Parasite into the trash can. At a glance, there were already more than a dozen Helos Parasite corpses inside.
"Chip, continue monitoring the entire reaction. Record the changes in the Life Potion." After giving the command, Green turned back to the experiment table without looking back.
"Sizzle."
As the blood and potion began to mix, they instantly boiled like lime poured into boiling water. Multicolored gases rose from the beaker, but Green's expression did not change as he continued watching the reaction inside.
As time passed, the reaction began to weaken. The potion, which had constantly been changing colors, slowly turned green before finally becoming emerald green.
Green looked at the emerald-green potion, a relieved smile appearing on his face. He picked up the beaker and slowly poured the emerald-green liquid into a test tube, sealing it with an oak stopper. After confirming that the seal was secure, Green picked up the test tube. Under the light, the emerald-green potion emitted a faint green glow.
"Chip, simulate the effects of the Life Potion."
[Simulating...] [Life Potion Effect One: Heals bodily injuries and accelerates wound recovery.] [Life Potion Effect Two: Provides additional life energy for Knight breakthroughs, increasing the success rate of Knight Apprentice breakthroughs by 82.75%, Formal Knight breakthroughs by 54.58%, and Grand Knight breakthroughs by 10.58%.]
Unable to reach the world of wizards, Green would not stop moving forward. Since he could not learn information about the wizard world, he would conduct research on Knights based on the conditions available to him.
Looking at the effects of the Life Potion, Green smiled and nodded. Now there was hope for breaking through to Grand Knight. Ever since becoming a Formal Knight, Green had been searching for a way to break through to Grand Knight. He had even sought out the governor of Ellendal Harbor and personally asked how one could break through to Grand Knight. The answer he received was incredibly mystical: Grand Knights were Formal Knights who had accidentally touched upon some kind of power in life-and-death crises, thereby breaking through. If one asked what kind of power it was, even Grand Knights would look confused. They themselves did not know what had happened. They had simply become Grand Knights in a daze between life and death.
That left Green helpless. As a scientist—and one who had even died once—Green truly did not want to take such risks again.
"Fortunately, with the Life Potion, breaking through to Grand Knight won't be a problem. Old Green might even be able to resume his training with this."
Besides those two main reasons, there were many more. Green was definitely going to leave Allendale and head to the world of wizards. Once he left, Perfume House would lose all support. Perhaps the various forces would not dare act in the short term because of Green's lingering reputation, but as time passed, that would be hard to say. After all, people's hearts were unpredictable.
Green needed to leave behind a deterrent of force to ensure long-term stability. The Life Potion could mass-produce Formal Knights. Although such artificially accelerated Knights would be somewhat weaker than others of the same level, they could be manufactured in large numbers. Quantity could overwhelm quality.
After using Wizard's Hand to tidy up the laboratory, Green took the emerald-green Life Potion and walked out of the underground laboratory.
