Green walked slowly down the stairs at an unhurried pace. His expression was calm, and the surroundings had not affected him in the slightest.
His crisp footsteps echoed through the empty spiral staircase. The oppressive silence made the whole place feel rather eerie.
At regular intervals, a landing appeared along the spiral staircase. Green used these landings as dividing lines to mark off its levels.
Soon, after descending two levels,
Green focused his attention on the Chip's interface. On the blue interface, the previously fluctuating Interaction Index suddenly rose somewhat.
Green stopped and thought it over carefully.
He walked to the edge of the stairs and looked down along the spiral staircase. It stretched endlessly into the depths, with no end in sight.
Seeing this, Green suddenly turned around and started walking back up the spiral staircase. When he returned to the level he had been on, the Interaction Index simulated by the Chip fell back to its original level.
Green continued upward, watching as the Chip's Interaction Index on the interface began to plummet.
Looking at the results the Chip provided, Green began to form a vague guess.
"Going up means leaving, while going down means activating it?"
Having roughly deduced how to interact with this World Remnant, Green felt somewhat at ease.
He wasn't afraid of encountering danger. What he feared was running into inexplicable things. Unknown risks always led to even greater chaos.
Green headed down the stairs once more.
One level, two levels...
The Interaction Index on the Chip's interface at the bottom right of Green's vision kept rising. As he descended farther, the distance between each level of the spiral staircase grew, and the staircase itself became increasingly broad.
Although, looking down from the edge of the spiral staircase, it seemed as if the entire
