Soon, only the Sixth-Level Wizards and Capecchi remained. They continued their discussion.

As they talked, discussions of the power of Rules sometimes set the surrounding space rippling. The Wizards' exchanges even made it unstable.

Capecchi spoke only vaguely about the details of his advancement. By questioning him indirectly, the Wizards soon understood why.

The exact process of advancement, and what he had experienced during it, could not be shared freely. Spreading such knowledge recklessly seemed to invite punishment from the Balance Rule.

The Wizards had no intention of challenging the Balance Rule. Instead, they tried every manner of indirect question to learn about advancing.

Even from those indirect answers, the Wizards could use their understanding and powers of deduction to grasp roughly what they would face in the trial, and what would signal its end.

While the Wizards discussed this, Green stood to one side with his head lowered in thought, glancing at Capecchi now and then.

As a Super-Spec Lifeform, Green had only just reached the Sixth Level, but his soul perception could already faintly sense the threat Capecchi posed to him.

There was a threat—but not much of one...

Green could sense that in a fight to the death, his power should surpass Capecchi's, and by more than a narrow margin. Yet because of the difference in their Life Dimensions, he could not destroy Immortal Matter. If they fought with everything they had, Green could probably only use Sealing Sorcery to seal Capecchi away, not eliminate him completely.

A Seventh-Level Lifeform was unlike a Sixth-Level Lifeform. Immortal Matter not only freed Seventh-Level Lifeforms from natural death, it also gave them nearly terrifying vitality. Even if only the remains of a single cell or a scrap of soul survived, they could swiftly draw power from the Void and revive.
