After cursing the Balance Rule for its sudden attack, Green stood before the Formation and took several deep breaths. Once he had suppressed his agitation and calmed himself, he slowly walked toward the villa the Bloodline Creatures had built for him.

Green sat in a chair in the villa's study. Sunlight streamed through the window and fell across him, its warmth settling his mind. Reclining in the chair with his whole body relaxed, he began to think through everything that had happened.

"When the gray Humanoid Skull appeared, I scanned it many times with the Chip. It really was a malformed product created by the collision of more than a dozen Rules, and the degree of its distortion was extreme. Though its exterior was remarkably stable, the Rules inside it were in severe conflict. It was like a lit powder keg, moments from exploding."

"But Rule-Clash Products are like that: dangerous, yet held in a kind of steady state."

"That skull was far too unusual, though. It appeared extremely dangerous, but it could actually strengthen a target's soul and body by some means. For an ordinary lifeform, it would be an opportunity they could only dream of encountering."

As Green carefully considered the sequence of events, he soon spotted the problem.

"For the Balance Rule, eliminating an extraordinary Sixth-Level Lifeform like me shouldn't be terribly difficult. Yet it chose not to eliminate me. Instead, it tried to force my plan to collapse through indirect means!"

"The Balance Rule has tried everything to stop me, but it hasn't chosen to kill me. It must be under some kind of restriction."

"So what exactly is restricting the Balance Rule?"

Green brought up the Chip's records and began examining them. He went through every detail collected over thirty days without pause, overlooking nothing.
