A tall, magnificent gray-black castle occupied the very center of the city. A ring of towering walls surrounded the castle, and compared with the city walls, its defenses were clearly a level higher.
Green, riding in the carriage, surveyed the surroundings. There were no buildings around the castle; the area had deliberately been left empty so the sentries could enjoy a wider field of vision. Black watchtowers rose above the castle, arranged in tight formation. The entire castle was under heavy guard.
The gray-black bricks of the castle, along with the moss that appeared here and there, exuded the weight of history.
"This castle is quite well built!" Green praised.
"To receive a Wizard's praise is my honor!" A steady, gentle voice drifted over. Green followed the sound and looked toward the castle gate, where a middle-aged man stood wearing a white coat trimmed with gold.
