Biography

Green did not leave the market straight away. Instead, he wandered around its outskirts. Unlike the central district, this area was mostly street stalls, with Wizard Apprentices standing before them and calling out to customers.

Most of what lay on the stalls were books and scrolls, things the Wandering Wizards had acquired from who knew where.

Green stopped at a stall displaying several common medicinal herbs and metals, along with a few scrolls and books. The vendor was wrapped head to toe in a gray robe, hiding his appearance completely. His aura was faint, too; at a glance, Green could tell he had cast Sorcery on himself to prevent others from probing him.

Green had stopped because, while browsing, he had spotted a book on this stall.

"What are you looking to buy?" the vendor asked as soon as Green paused before him.

His voice grated dryly in Green's ears, as though his throat had spent ten days baking in the desert.

Green did not answer. He looked at the books on the stall instead.

Adventures in the Darknight Forest. It looked much like an ordinary novel.

Green picked it up and began to leaf through it.

The opening explained where the book had come from.

It had been written by a Wizard named Bittel. A Wandering Wizard, Bittel had obtained a legacy from another Wizard by chance. He had some talent of his own, and after a long, hard struggle, he had become a Formal Wizard. Late in life, a sudden whim had led him to write his life story.

The account of his life filled more than a dozen books. Wizards lived long lives, after all, and had plenty to write about. Adventures in the Darknight Forest covered only one part of his life. He had written it
