Glory Hut, Cheap Potions

Hughes: "...I want to buy it, but I don't have the money."

He wanted to buy it too, but he needed the Magic Stones for it!

He had set sail to hunt sea monsters and had not gained a single Magic Stone. On top of that, he had given Leo five Magic Stones to learn Mental Radiation.

This time, Hughes had originally come to sell his potions in exchange for Magic Stones.

But who would have thought that the lady at the counter would not accept them at all?

Watching Leo casually spend two or three hundred Magic Stones, Hughes felt a little envious.

Of course, it was only envy, not jealousy.

Having gone through the hunting mission with Leo, he knew exactly how much risk Leo had taken to earn those Magic Stones.

If it had been Hughes himself, let alone earning Magic Stones, he would not even have been able to return alive.

Fingering the inferior-quality Basic Recovery Potion in his pocket, Hughes said, "Leo, are you going to Glory Hut next?"

"Yes."

"I'll go with you."

Hughes wanted to try his luck as well. Since Glory Hut would accept Leo's potion, it might accept his too.

Leo nodded, then looked at the map.

Other than the central area, which was displayed as blank, the map showed every other part of the Tower of Dawn.

The two quickly found the landmark for Glory Hut.

Glory Hut was located near the edge of this region, where the surroundings were comparatively desolate.

"Hello, Wizard. What would you like to purchase?"

As Leo and Hughes entered Glory Hut, a tall woman at the front counter greeted Leo with a smile.

Compared to an elf, this woman was far less attractive. She possessed faint spiritual energy, but she also carried the distinctive aura of a knight's Knight Breathing Technique, and it was quite dense.

Leo was not surprised. Knights also possessed spiritual energy, but theirs was still far from condensing into a Spiritual Seed.

Her hair was braided into numerous small plaits, and her body was powerfully built. Two enormous tusks protruded from either side of her mouth, and she was even taller than Leo.

Leo guessed that she was not human, but some kind of demi-human.

Beside him, Hughes raised his head to look up at the tusked counter attendant and swallowed.

Standing before her, Hughes looked like a child standing before an adult.

Even though the counter attendant had done nothing, Hughes inexplicably felt afraid.

Leo said, "Hello. I have a bottle of inferior-quality Withered Wood Potion. May I sell it to your shop?"

"A Withered Wood Potion?" The tusked woman's eyes lit up at Leo's words. "Wizard, we can purchase this bottle of Withered Wood Potion for 2 Magic Stones."

Hearing that, Leo considered it briefly and said, "Isn't that price a little too low?"

It was not even half the cost of the Withered Wood Potion's materials.

The tusked woman said, "Wizard, you must have only recently started brewing Withered Wood Potions, correct? Recently, the price has risen somewhat because of the yield of Withered Wood roots, so the production cost of brewed Withered Wood Potions has gone up as well. But shops like ours that purchase potions do not look at such things. Unless material costs rise permanently, we only purchase them at the normal price."

After thinking it over, Leo still agreed to the deal.

After the tusked woman at the counter accepted the Withered Wood Potion, her mouth split into a smile. "Wizard, if you have any more inferior-quality or higher-quality Withered Wood Potions in the future, please be sure to sell them to Glory Hut."

"All right, ma'am."

Seeing Leo sell an inferior-quality potion so smoothly, Hughes perked up as well. "Miss Counter Attendant, I want to sell a potion too."

"What potion is it?"

"A Basic Recovery Potion."

Upon hearing that it was a Basic Recovery Potion, the tusked counter attendant frowned slightly and asked, "What quality is it?"

"Inferior quality."

After hearing that, the tusked counter attendant shook her head. "Sorry, our shop does not accept inferior-quality Basic Recovery Potions."

Hughes was startled. "Eh, why? Don't you accept inferior-quality potions?"

"Although we do accept inferior-quality potions, they are limited to those that help with knight training. Basic Recovery Potions are useful, but if they are inferior quality, our knight customers will not buy them."

"All right, then." Hughes's face was full of disappointment.

The two walked out of Glory Hut, and Hughes said, "Just as my mentor said, these shops generally only accept potions of ordinary quality or above. In that case, I can only use this Basic Recovery Potion I brewed myself."

Hearing this, Leo reminded him, "Hughes, drinking potions recklessly can cause many harmful effects on your body. It can even damage your spiritual power talent."

Hughes shuddered. "That's true. Forget it. If I can't sell it, I can't sell it. I'll find somewhere to throw it away. It looks like being a Potion Wizard isn't as easy as I imagined. Sigh, who knows how long I'll have to wait before I can brew a potion worth selling? The more I think about it, the more this subject feels like drawing a big pie to fool a whole crowd into studying Potionology. In reality, there probably aren't many who can truly make a name for themselves."

Hughes continued complaining without end.

Seeing Hughes like this, Leo fell into thought as well.

Although Wizard Sally had previously said that Potionology could earn Magic Stones by selling potions, reaching the level where one could sell potions also required quite a bit of time and materials.

Inferior-quality potions could only recover half their value, and some shops would not even accept them. In other words, even if one successfully brewed them, one still wasted the materials and time used to brew an inferior-quality potion.

Ordinary quality only barely broke even.

As for high quality, that was rare.

Thinking about it this way, Potionology really was like drawing a big pie. Without some talent, there was simply no way to make it work.

Hughes suddenly said, "Leo, do you think I should sell the Mind-Nourishing Potion Wizard Esmond gave me?"

Leo did not answer. He would not offer advice on something involving another person's future.

Otherwise, whether Hughes sold it or not in the end, Leo would still get some of the blame.

Seeing that Leo did not answer, Hughes smiled awkwardly. "Haha, I really shouldn't have asked you that. Sorry."

"I'll head back to the gathering first... Ah, no, there's something I almost forgot to tell you."

Hughes's expression turned grave. "Leo, I heard from our mentor that this year's exchange gathering seems to be introducing new rules. By then, those who have already condensed a Spiritual Seed and become Wizards will not be allowed to participate in the exchange gathering."

Hearing this, Leo could not help frowning.

If that rule was real, it meant Leo would have no way to complete Esmond's commission.

Leo said, "If things really turn out that way, then it looks like we can only rely on you, Hughes."

Hughes gave a bitter smile. "Leo, you think too highly of me. There may even be students with Level 5 spiritual power talent by then. The chances of me completing Wizard Esmond's commission are truly not high."

"We can only wait and see when the time comes," Leo said.
