Background / History
Yan Shaozhe is Mu En’s foremost disciple and a Super Douluo. As dean of Shrek Academy’s Martial Soul Department, he holds considerable authority within the academy 43 56. When Fan Yu demanded punishment for Lin Yan, Bei Bei, and Tang Ya after they injured an examiner in a combat test, Yan Shaozhe ruled that the students had broken no rules. He offered to arrange treatment for the injured examiner and ended the dispute 43.
After seeing Lin Yan demonstrate the innate ability Thunderous Bagua, Yan Shaozhe invited him to skip four grades and enter the Inner Court. He explained its resources and Inspection Corps obligations, then promised that Lin Yan would not be assigned missions before reaching Soul King level 109 110. Once Lin Yan reached that level and defeated Wu Ming, Yan Shaozhe stopped their match before Wu Ming was seriously injured and directed Lin Yan to begin Inspection Corps service 174.
Yan Shaozhe later appointed Lin Yan captain of Shrek’s tournament team 215. He also approved Inner Court admission for Lin Yan’s disciples Xue Shuanghen and Di Xinyu after assessing their abilities, requiring Xue Shuanghen to take an advancement assessment 277 322. Following Mu En’s death, he helped restrain a confrontation with Du Busi while Shrek considered cooperation with the Body Sect 290.

Personality
Yan Shaozhe places importance on fair treatment of students and Shrek Academy’s reputation. He rejects Fan Yu’s attempt to punish students who won within the rules, warning that mistreating them would damage trust in the academy 43. He is protective of Ma Xiaotao, urgently attending to her after an Evil Fire outbreak and investigating the force that suppressed it 53.
He actively recruits exceptional students but makes clear that talent does not exempt them from Inner Court duties. Though suspicious of Lin Yan’s account of his fifth Spirit Ring, he chooses not to press the matter after recognizing Mu En’s likely involvement 109 174.
