Background / History

In Tang Wulin's previous life, Shrek Academy was devastated by a Holy Spirit Cult conspiracy. Explosives and destructive arrays had been planted beneath the academy, in teaching buildings, training grounds, dormitories, and near the Sea God Pavilion; the resulting detonations reduced much of the campus to fire and ruins. 35

In the current life, the Holy Spirit Cult again attempts to destroy Shrek with Level-12 Fixed Soul Guidance Shells. Tang Wulin leads the effort to dismantle the weapons, ultimately preventing any loss of life or damage to the academy. 36 38

Following the crisis, Shrek grants Tang Wulin its unprecedented highest honors: the Shrek Highest Honor Medal, the title of Shrek Lifelong Guardian, and Sea God Pavilion’s highest authority. 39

Campus & Defenses

Shrek combines an academy, a fortified city, and a symbol of protection for soul masters across the continent.

Major Arcs

Star Luo Empire Tournament

The Shrek Seven Monsters travel from Shrek City aboard the Vast Sea cruise ship to compete in the Star Luo Empire Advanced Soul Master Tournament. 11

Representing Shrek Academy, they defeat the Star Luo Royal Academy’s second team while concealing their full strength, then eventually win the tournament championship against Monster Academy with the team fusion skill Holy Spirit’s Protection. Their victory restores and displays Shrek’s prestige abroad. 15 18

Holy Spirit Cult Bomb Plot

The Holy Spirit Cult plants Level-12 Fixed Soul Guidance Shells throughout Shrek Academy in an attempt to repeat the destruction of Tang Wulin’s previous life. Tang Wulin, Gu Yue, and Yun Ming work to dismantle the weapons, with Tang Wulin ultimately disabling every shell. 36 38

The academy survives entirely intact: no buildings are destroyed and no one dies. The Shrek Seven Monsters reunite afterward and pledge to remain together, protect Shrek, and grow stronger. 38

Spirit Pagoda War

After the Spirit Pagoda declares war on Shrek and the Tang Sect, Shrek City enters full combat readiness. Tang Wulin exposes Qiangu Dongfeng’s crimes to the continent’s major powers, securing reinforcements and preventing Shrek’s isolation. 59 60

The city repels the Spirit Pagoda’s vanguard and main force. Tang Wulin, Gu Yue, Na’er, Wu Changkong, and the Shrek Seven Monsters form the core of its defense, while Tang Xuanyu’s divine power heals and strengthens exhausted defenders. 65 67

Even a final assault by more than one hundred soul-conduit warships and thousands of soul masters fails to breach the city. Shrek’s walls remain undamaged, and its defenders suffer no deaths or grievous injuries. 74

Far North Campaign

When remnants of the Holy Spirit Cult establish the Evil Soul Blood Sacrifice Array in the Far North, Shrek becomes the command center for a continent-wide response. Tang Wulin assembles Shrek, the Tang Sect, military forces, and the righteous faction of the Spirit Pagoda. 86 87

The Shrek Seven Monsters lead the array-eye raiding group, tasked with destroying the formation’s critical nodes. 87

Abyss War

When a massive rift opens over Shrek City and Abyssal creatures pour through, Shrek again becomes a frontline fortress. Tang Wulin leads the first defensive line, while Wu Changkong and Long Bing deploy the Ice Lotus Formation at the city gates. 101

As the conflict continues, the academy is adapted into a wartime schoolhouse. Its students train in soul power, mental fortitude, resilience, and the responsibility to protect the city. 111

Voluntary Soul Ring Reform

Shrek becomes the leading institution for the Voluntary Soul Ring Creation Method, which allows soul masters to obtain Soul Rings without killing or coercing soul beasts. 132

During the Shrek Pilot Experiment, thirty Shrek core students successfully receive Voluntary Soul Rings without any injury, resistance, or fear from the participating soul beasts. The experiment’s success leads to continent-wide implementation of the system. 133
