Tang Wulin shielded his companions from a seventh-level shell during Shrek Academy’s destruction, choosing to take the attack himself rather than abandon them. The blast threw him into spatial-temporal turbulence, where his body and soul were severely damaged before he arrived in Shrek City ten thousand years in the past. 2 3

Elder Xuan Zi found Tang Wulin bleeding near the Golden Ancient Tree and brought him to Sea God Pavilion for treatment. After recovering enough to speak, Tang revealed that he was a Shrek Inner Court student and the reserve Pavilion Master of Sea God Pavilion from the future. 4
