With Jie Jian's guidance, Kasumi Miwa returned from death, trained to overcome her fear, and killed Kenjaku. She reached the Zenin Family estate to challenge Sukuna and opened their fight with a Black Flash that badly wounded him.

• Sukuna attacked Satoru Gojo and Kasumi Miwa with Kamutoke, and Miwa was cut nearly in half by a Spatial Slash before Jie Jian healed her.
• After Sukuna killed Miwa with a Binding Vow-enhanced Spatial Slash, Jie Jian showed her the people mourning at her funeral, and she chose to return to life.
• Miwa left Jujutsu High to train with Jie Jian, learning to face repeated deaths in his Innate Domain, sharpen her sword instincts, and land Black Flashes.
• Miwa found Kenjaku in Sendai and fought him after Jie Jian demonstrated Crescent Moon Skychaser, eventually striking him with nine consecutive Black Flashes and killing him.
• Miwa learned that Sukuna was waiting at the Zenin Family estate to duel Satoru Gojo, then went there with Jie Jian and took a black-sheathed katana from the cursed tool vault.
• Sukuna confronted Miwa in the vault, and she crossed the distance with Thunderclap and Flash to land a sword Black Flash.
• Miwa's Black Flash sent Sukuna crashing through ancient buildings and left him with a severe chest wound, but he healed and transformed into his original form.

Kasumi Miwa defeated Sukuna and earned promotion to Special Grade before Jie Jian entered a new challenge as Maki Zenin during the Shibuya Incident. After helping Maki and the other sorcerers defeat Dagon and Jogo, Jie Jian withdrew inside her, leaving the group to continue toward Satoru Gojo.

• Miwa defeated Sukuna with a series of Black Flash attacks, destroyed Agito, and overcame Mahoraga, but hesitated to kill Sukuna because his body belonged to Megumi Fushiguro.
• Gojo brought Miwa to Jujutsu High, where he promoted her to Special Grade after learning she had defeated Sukuna and Kenjaku.
• Jie Jian became dormant after Miwa fulfilled her wish, then chose a new challenge to become head of the Zenin Family as Maki, with no cursed energy and no ability to rewind after death.
• During the Shibuya Incident, Jie Jian took control of Maki and helped her defeat Dagon, then demanded that Naobito name him head of the Zenin Family.
• Jie Jian fought Toji and Jogo alongside Nanami, Naobito, and Megumi, while Megumi revealed his identity to Toji and Toji turned his attacks toward Jogo.
• Jie Jian and Toji cut off Jogo’s head, but Jogo expanded his domain and summoned Maximum: Meteor, which killed Toji as Jie Jian evacuated the others.
• Jie Jian killed Jogo, then withdrew inside Maki, and Maki, Nanami, and Megumi set aside the mystery of Jie Jian and prepared to rescue Gojo.

Megumi escaped Mahito with Sukuna’s Fingers while Naobito died fighting to protect him, and Maki and Jie Jian joined Nanami and Kugisaki to defeat Mahito. Kenjaku absorbed Mahito and launched a new plan, while Naobito’s will made Maki Head of the Zenin Family and her overwhelming strength became clear.

• Megumi carried the injured Naobito and Sukuna’s Fingers toward safety, refused Naobito’s offer to inherit the Zenin Family, and witnessed Naobito record a will naming Maki as his successor.
• Mahito confronted Megumi and Naobito, but Megumi escaped on Nue with the Fingers while Naobito stayed behind and died after fighting Mahito.
• Nanami and Maki battled Mahito, and Jie Jian took control of Maki’s body and drove Mahito to transform into increasingly powerful forms.
• Nobara arrived and used Resonance to strike Mahito’s Soul Core, helping Jie Jian and Nanami force Mahito to flee until Kenjaku absorbed him with Maximum: Uzumaki.
• Kenjaku faced attacks from the sorcerers as Choso and Uraume joined the fight, then Yuki Tsukumo arrived and Kenjaku activated a remote technique that formed barriers across the sky.
• Megumi returned and gave Maki Naobito’s will, which named her the next Zenin Family Head, while Nanami assigned Maki and the Kyoto students to clear Shibuya.
• At the Zenin Family meeting, Furudate verified Naobito’s recording and named Maki the twenty-seventh Head, and Maki knocked Naoya unconscious as Jinichi recognized her awakened Heavenly Tyrant.

After making Maki the Zenin Family Head and completing his mission, Jie Jian entered a high-difficulty challenge in Wano with his powers stripped away. He gained Gecko Moria’s Shadow-Shadow Fruit, attacked the Beasts Pirates, and became the supposed Akutami Family retainer Kaido demanded that Oden surrender.

• Maki became the twenty-seventh Head of the Zenin Family, reformed its ranks, and heard Jie Jian explain that his mission was complete before he rested within her soul.
• Jie Jian accepted the challenge to defeat Kaido and save Wano, but arrived powerless and was rescued from the sea by a dying Gecko Moria, who entrusted him with the Shadow-Shadow Fruit.
• Jie Jian ate the fruit, reached Wano, and killed the leader of a Beasts Pirates mine camp, prompting Kaido to send King to investigate.
• Jie Jian developed his shadow abilities while King blamed Oden’s samurai for the mine attack, and Oden refused to risk an all-out war with Kaido.
• Jie Jian returned to the mine, killed its Haki-wielding leader and many pirates, then spared a survivor to tell Kaido he was waiting there.
• King learned the attacker’s name was Jie Jian and linked him to the Akutami Family, then warned Kaido that the mine attack was a lure.
• Kaido confronted Oden during his weekly naked dance, struck him with Thunder Bagua, and accused him of protecting the attacker.
• Kurozumi Higurashi stopped the fight, and Kaido gave Oden three days to surrender the Akutami Family retainer, and Kanjuro recalled that Kaido had killed the family while bungee jumping.
