Background

The Three Corpses Manipulation awakened after Lu Ping's transmigration. It originated from his soul rather than the Zenin bloodline, manifesting the Daoist “three corpse worms” as a cursed technique compatible with a world where cursed energy is born from negative emotion. The Upper Corpse is Peng Ju, the Middle Corpse Peng Zhi, and the Lower Corpse Peng Jiao. 1

Its first combat application transformed Lu Ping's Divine Dogs into Shadow Wolf. The technique consumed Lu Ping's fear during battle, immediately calming him, while the summoned wolf devoured a cursed spirit and returned a small amount of energy to its master. Lu Ping later determined that consuming his own emotions produces nearly pure cursed energy, whereas cursed spirits and ambient resentment are impure sources with far lower conversion efficiency. 3

During the Hoshimi Shrine battle, the Three Corpses developed distinct functions under lethal pressure. Azure Corpse devoured mass external resentment, Blood Corpse converted Lu Ping's survival instinct and rage, and White Corpse reconciled their incompatible outputs. This produced Crimson Shadow, Shadow Wolf's destructive Blood Corpse Form. 9

Lu Ping gradually learned to regulate the technique rather than rely on uncontrolled bursts. At Snakebone Village, he refined the victims' concentrated resentment into a sustained flow of energy, strengthening his reserves without immediately consuming everything at once. 34

After studying the internal structure of Ten Shadows, Lu Ping used the Three Corpses' ability to alter technique circuits. He sacrificed the inherited nature of Ten Shadows and cut active connections to most unexorcised shikigami, transforming the inherited technique into a personalized Shadow Technique built around his own body, Shadow Space, and surviving shikigami. 54 55

Appearance

The Three Corpses normally remain hidden in Lu Ping's shadow, flesh, meridians, and subconscious. They become visible only through cursed-energy manifestations, altered shikigami, or direct activation.
