Background
The Golden Dragon King originated when the Dragon God divided into the Golden Dragon King and Silver Dragon King. According to his account, the Dragon God itself was born from energy released when the Ancestral Dragon God and Ying Dragon God ascended to Divine Emperorhood. The Golden Dragon King inherited part of the Ancestral Dragon God’s will, while the Silver Dragon King inherited part of the Ying Dragon God’s will. 18
During the war of the gods, the Asura God gravely injured both Dragon Kings with the Asura Sword. The Golden Dragon King was sealed in the Divine Realm, while the Silver Dragon King’s divine thought escaped to the lower realm. He later claims that his apparent death was deliberate: as long as his divine core endured, he could continue planning his return. 18
His essence became the source of Tang Wulin’s Golden Dragon King bloodline, helping forge Tang Wulin into the Dragon Emperor Douluo. The Golden Dragon King’s remnant soul remained confined behind eighteen seals within Tang Wulin’s body, waiting for a chance to take control. 2 16
Appearance
The Golden Dragon King’s appearance changes according to his state, ranging from a possessing consciousness in Tang Wulin’s body to an immense blood-armored dragon.
- Blood Prison Golden Dragon King — His ultimate form is a nearly ten-thousand-meter crimson dragon surrounded by the Flames of the Nine Netherworlds. 18
- Bloodfrost Condensation — Blood-red Transcendent Divine Artifact armor worn in his ultimate form. 18
- Possessed Tang Wulin — While using Tang Wulin’s body, he retains a humanoid appearance but manifests red vertical dragon pupils and an ancient ferocious aura. 23
- Blood Moon Divine King form — After ascending, he gains the adaptable Blood God Armor, enormous dragon wings, and nine smaller Blood Moons behind the central Blood Moon. 59
Personality
The Golden Dragon King is proud, cruel, and convinced that strength grants the right to rule. He calls humans “ants,” treats mass death as a resource, and considers the protection of weaker beings a sign of weakness. 24 33 68
Unlike a mindless berserker, he is also calculating. He exploits the soul beasts’ resentment toward humanity, promises them godhood and immortality, and deliberately tries to break Gu Yuena’s resolve rather than merely overpowering her. Gu Yuena identifies this combination of madness and intelligence as more dangerous than his raw strength alone. 24 70
Abilities & Skills
Possession and Bloodline Control
The Golden Dragon King can invade Spirit Seas, corrupt divine consciousness, and exploit the Golden Dragon bloodline embedded in Tang Wulin.
- Forced open Tang Wulin’s eighteenth seal after the latter’s unstable breakthrough, then devoured his weakened divine consciousness and occupied his body. 16 18
- Mastered Tang Wulin’s bloodline techniques more completely than Tang Wulin himself, including simultaneously using all three Dragon Emperor Forbidden Arts. 22
- Exerts overwhelming superior-dragon pressure that forces weaker soul beasts to kneel; even Di Tian, Da Ming, and Er Ming were crushed until Gu Yuena intervened. 24
- His possession depended on Tang Wulin’s weakened spiritual state and their exceptionally high bloodline compatibility. After losing Tang Wulin’s body, he was left with little beyond spiritual consciousness. 75
Blood Rain and Devouring
His blood-based techniques convert living beings into power for himself.
- Golden Dragon: Bloodthirst Rain — His ninth soul skill creates a blood-red formation and blood rain that transforms insufficiently strong victims into blood. The resulting blood can heal him, restore combat power, and increase his strength. 23
- Golden Dragon: Blood Rain — Expanded the technique across Douluo Continent, killing ordinary people almost instantly and absorbing their blood energy. 33
- Calculated that the blood of more than one hundred million people would let him attain Divine Kinghood, after which he intended to devour Gu Yuena and approach the Dragon God’s former level. 33
Dragon Emperor Arts
The Golden Dragon King combines overwhelming physical strength with advanced bloodline techniques.
- Golden Dragon Dominance — Turns his body mirror-like and absorbs incoming damage; it also allowed him to absorb Godslayer’s energy during his breakthrough. 22 59
- Dragon Emperor Battle, Thrust, and Charge — Three forbidden arts that he can unleash simultaneously, multiplying their force beyond Tang Wulin’s own use of the techniques. 22
- Dragon Emperor Radiance — Dissolves Gu Yuena’s Starry Night Domain and opens the way for his counterattack. 68
- Divine Annihilation — A self-created technique that consumes his origin bloodline and is powerful enough to kill gods; he developed it after reflecting on his earlier defeat and sealing. 41
Dragon Clan Authority
The Golden Dragon King uses his lineage and Dragon Clan Blessing to build an army and challenge Gu Yuena’s leadership.
- Summoned the Divine Dragon Legion through Ten Thousand Dragons Roar and Thousand Dragons Revival, including more than ten thousand dragons and projections of the Nine Dragon Kings. 25
- Promised soul beasts freedom from humanity, immortality, godhood, and a Divine Realm of their own, causing Xiong Jun and more than half of the soul beasts present to defect. 24 25
- Ordered the Divine Dragon Legion to massacre major human cities even while trapped by the Nine Heavens Dragon-Locking Formation. 41
Divine Realm Creation
After becoming the Blood Moon Divine King, he attempted to remake Douluo Star into his personal Divine Realm.
- Combined his divine power with the planet’s energy to condense a Divine Realm Core. 59
- Withstood the newly born realm’s lightning tribulations through the Blood Moon, stabilizing it as a medium-sized Divine Realm. 61
- Became the ruler of the stabilized Divine Realm upon obtaining its Core. 63
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Golden Dragon Spear — Used alongside Tang Wulin’s inherited bloodline techniques; employed to disrupt Tang San’s No Return and strike the Nine Heavens Dragon-Locking Formation. 22 41
- Godslayer Spear — His principal trump card, capable of erasing divine consciousness; he used its aura to destroy Tang San’s divine sense and later wielded it against Gu Yuena. 23 72 73
- Bloodfrost Condensation — Transcendent Divine Artifact armor of the Blood Prison Golden Dragon King. 18
- Blood God Armor — Evolved battle armor gained after becoming the Blood Moon Divine King; adapts between human and dragon forms. 59
- Time Wheel — Time-element divine weapon that can freeze, record, and rewind time. It can restore him to a previously recorded peak state up to three times per day. 70
- Blood Moon — Divine King-level weapon and domain source carrying slaughtering intent; its full-moon state destroyed Gu Yuena’s elemental divine weapons. 68
Relationships
- Tang Wulin — Host and principal rival. The Golden Dragon King possessed Tang Wulin after breaking the eighteenth seal, but Tang Wulin later reclaimed his consciousness and destroyed the remnant soul. 18 74 78
- Gu Yuena / Silver Dragon King — His other half and greatest rival. He offered her an alliance only to admit that he intended for one of them to devour the other; he later sought to break her spirit and absorb her bloodline. 24 70
- Tang San — Enemy and Tang Wulin’s father. The Golden Dragon King defeated Tang San’s strand of divine sense by exploiting the Godslayer Spear’s ability to destroy divine consciousness. 17 23
- Nine Dragon Kings — Former Dragon Clan figures who opposed him after recovering their minds. They first trapped him with a forbidden art, then sacrificed their remaining existence to form the Nine Heavens Dragon-Locking Formation. 36 37 41
- Xiong Jun — Early soul-beast supporter who submitted to him and helped trigger wider defections from Gu Yuena’s faction. 24 25
- Divine Dragon Legion — His army of dragon warriors, summoned and commanded to wage war against humanity. 25 41
Story Role / Major Arcs
Awakening and Possession
Tang Wulin’s forced breakthrough destabilizes the seals containing the Golden Dragon King. The remnant soul tempts him with domination and a new Divine Realm, breaks free as the eighteenth seal collapses, and eventually devours Tang Wulin’s divine consciousness to seize his body. 16 18
Tang San’s divine sense attempts to save his son, but the Golden Dragon King counters Tang San’s Sea God techniques with Tang Wulin’s own bloodline abilities. He ultimately uses the Godslayer Spear’s aura to erase Tang San’s divine consciousness. 22 23
War for Douluo Continent
After revealing himself publicly, the Golden Dragon King crushes Shrek’s defenders, challenges Gu Yuena’s authority over the soul beasts, and recruits followers with promises of a soul-beast Divine Realm. 24 25
He unleashes continent-wide Blood Rain, turns civilian deaths into power, and uses Gu Yuena’s public defeat to terrorize humanity into despair. 33
Sealing, Return, and Ascension
The Nine Dragon Kings temporarily trap him through their forbidden ultimate art, Eternal: Genesis Zero Art, but the Dragon Clan Will intervenes because Tang Wulin is the dragons’ benefactor. The Dragon God’s manifestation destroys the alternate space and returns the Golden Dragon King to the battlefield. 37 40
The Nine Dragon Kings then sacrifice themselves to create the Nine Heavens Dragon-Locking Formation. The seal is eventually shattered, allowing the Golden Dragon King to emerge atop the Blood Moon and near Divine Kinghood. 41 56
Humanity’s Godslayer weapon severely injures him but fails to kill him. He absorbs its energy, ascends as the Blood Moon Divine King, and begins creating a new Divine Realm. 59 61
Final Defeat
As the Blood Moon Divine King, he battles Gu Yuena across the Divine Realm and outer space. His Blood Moon Domain, Time Wheel, superior defense, and control of Tang Wulin’s remaining consciousness repeatedly place her at a disadvantage. 68 69 70 71
Tang Wulin’s consciousness is restored through Faith Power and Na’er’s sacrifice. He reaches Divine King-level spiritual power, destroys the Golden Dragon King’s spiritual imprint, and later enters Gu Yuena’s Spirit Sea to confront the weakened remnant directly. 74 78
Empowered by Life, Destruction, and Dragon God forces, Tang Wulin finally shatters the Golden Dragon King’s divine consciousness. 78
Trivia
- The Golden Dragon King’s physical strength and defense were described as nearly reaching Supreme God King-level standards, while his spiritual power was comparatively only at the Half-step Divine King realm. 74
- Tang Wulin’s Golden Dragon King bloodline survived independently of the remnant soul; the bloodline had already been largely absorbed by Tang Wulin before the remnant’s final defeat. 75
