Background
Usopp lived in Kaya’s village and became known for extravagant lies, including a claim that he commanded eighty million subordinates. He is the son of Yasopp of the Red-Hair Pirates; insults toward Yasopp provoke an immediate, furious response from him 7 8.
His desire to become a pirate is tied to becoming a brave warrior of the sea. After Kuro’s defeat, the villagers forgive his past pranks after learning that he protected Kaya, and he departs with their support 9.
Appearance
Usopp is a young man distinguished by his notably long nose.
- Often carries a slingshot as his primary weapon.
- Is introduced while making exaggerated claims about his supposed followers 7.
Personality
Usopp is boastful, theatrical, and easily frightened, frequently presenting himself as “Captain Usopp” despite not being the crew’s captain. His bravado does not erase his fear; rather, he repeatedly acts despite it when his friends are endangered 7 8 42.
He values recognition and praise, eagerly seeking Zero’s approval after defeating Marines alone. He is also deeply loyal: he disregards an agreed rendezvous point to check on Zero after the latter fights a Marine fleet by himself 26 27.
