They said drinking helped blood circulation, but was it really this obvious on Weedle?

Then... would it make it lose control?

Shu Tong felt like he was overthinking it. Maybe the alcohol had simply stimulated Weedle and brought out that burst of energy.

Weedle used its string to wrap around a branch and pull its body along, swinging in a huge circle through the air like a roller coaster.

Smack!

After just one rotation, the string snapped in the middle, and Weedle slammed hard into the ground.

Shu Tong's heart clenched along with it. That sounded painful just from the noise. Looks like the alcohol really went to its head.

Just as Shu Tong was about to check on Weedle, it shot another string onto a branch and began swinging again. Naturally, nothing changed this time either. When Weedle fell, it passed out completely.

The string isn't tough enough. It probably lacks protein. If I weren't broke, I'd definitely buy it a few bottles of Miltank milk.

With that thought, Shu Tong used the Viridian Force again.

"Weedle!" So refreshing!

Weedle seemed to have figured out its Trainer's special ability. That was why it abused itself so recklessly. Without needing Shu Tong to say anything, it used String Shot again for more extreme training.

Before Shu Tong could react, he staggered and said, "Weedle, take care of yourself."

But Weedle did not listen at all. Perhaps the Viridian Force had some special magic that made it unable to get enough of this. It passed out again and again, nearly draining Shu Tong dry.

"Wait, wait, wait," Shu Tong said weakly.

"Weedle?" Weedle looked at Shu Tong in confusion. Hadn't they agreed to grow stronger together?

"Weedle, this kind of special training mainly targets stamina and physical strength. It's important, but you need to combine it with other training too. For example, you still haven't learned Poison Sting. Shouldn't you practice that more? Try sensing Poison type energy first. You're Poison type already, so it shouldn't be too difficult."

"Weedle!" Weedle nodded vigorously, feeling that Shu Tong was right.

Shu Tong also let out a breath of relief. He had finally fooled it. Otherwise, he would have been done for. Forcing himself back inside, he grabbed a bottle of milk to replenish his nutrition.

When Shu Tong came back out again,

he found a ball of purple Poison type energy gathering in Weedle's mouth. Then, that purple energy turned into three Poison Stings and shot forward, embedding themselves directly in the ginkgo tree's trunk before vanishing a few seconds later.

"Poison Sting... you learned it?" Shu Tong said as he drank his milk.

Was this the Viridian Force at work, or the alcohol? Since he could not tell, he might as well use both.

Walking over to Weedle, Shu Tong said, "Now we have a direction for our special training. Extreme training can definitely improve all your abilities. Then there's the strength of your string and your use of Poison Sting. As for Poison Sting, I think we can find some Poison type Pokémon to battle tomorrow and experience different kinds of poison. As for your string, you definitely need more protein. That's a bit difficult right now... Sigh. If I miss your best window for protein supplementation, then I'll be an incompetent Trainer."

Weedle fired another Poison Sting, answering Shu Tong with its own efforts.

"Good. An hour ago, I was still thinking about calling the police to get that money back. Now, I just want to beat those bastards until they're black and blue, so they learn what happens when they mess with us." A trace of killing intent appeared in Shu Tong's eyes.

"Weedle!"

With a blazing gaze, Weedle used String Shot again and continued its extreme training of swinging and slamming its body around. This was also pushing Shu Tong to his physical limit.

By a little after ten, he finally lost. Shu Tong could not hold on any longer.

"Weedle, let's stop here for today. I'll tell you a story." Dragging his exhausted body along, Shu Tong truly could not think of anything else that might distract Weedle.

"Weedle?"

"Once upon a time, there was a place called Viridian Forest. There was a child there named Giovanni, and he also had a Weedle..." Shu Tong said as he gazed at the full moon in the sky.

Weedle's interest was piqued. It lay in Shu Tong's arms and looked at the moon with him.

As Shu Tong spoke in his deep, magnetic voice, Weedle slowly closed its eyes.

"Finally asleep." Shu Tong smiled in relief and returned Weedle to its Poké Ball.

Back in his room, Shu Tong plugged in his phone and collapsed straight into bed. His body had been drained by using the Viridian Force so many times.

The next morning, after breakfast, Shu Tong rode his electric scooter toward the northern woods.

As soon as he entered the forest with Weedle, he saw several Caterpie munching on fresh leaves still covered in dew. Their information panels appeared before Shu Tong's eyes.

[Name]: Caterpie [Attribute]: Bug type [Ability]: Shield Dust [Skills]: String Shot, Tackle [Individual Talent]: Low-grade [Recent Turning Point]: Two months later, it would be eaten by Spearow during the Mystery Realm invasion.

Aside from slight differences in their individual talents, these Caterpie shared almost identical fates. All of them would be eaten by Spearow during the Mystery Realm invasion.

Shu Tong continued deeper into the forest, wanting to see whether there were any "survivors." After encountering dozens of Pokémon in a row—Weedle, Caterpie, Oddish, Rattata, and the like—he found that their fates were all the same. Every one of them would die in the Mystery Realm invasion two months later.

Shu Tong sighed. "There's nothing more to see. It looks like the Mystery Realm invasion two months from now will deal a devastating blow to this forest."

"Weedle?" Weedle did not understand what Shu Tong had been looking at, or why they still had not begun their special training.

Shu Tong understood Weedle's thoughts and said, "Next, we'll start today's special training. I think the thing that can improve the fastest in the short term is your perception of Poison type energy. I already have an idea. Let's find an Oddish first."

"Weedle!"

Weedle cried out in alarm. A Weedle was flying straight toward them, and Shu Tong quickly stepped aside.

Well, they had not found an Oddish, but a Weedle had delivered itself first. That Weedle was also using String Shot to stick to branches and swing through the forest. Its string was clearly far tougher than his Weedle's, remaining unbroken after several swings.

"Poison Sting. Aim for its string," Shu Tong ordered.

Weedle did not disappoint him. Three Poison Stings successfully severed the other Weedle's string.

The other Weedle had no time to react before it fell to the ground, its eyes spinning in circles.

Just as Shu Tong was about to leave, he saw the information for the Weedle before him and suddenly felt his heart surge with excitement.

[Name]: Weedle [Attribute]: Bug type, Poison type [Ability]: Run Away [Skills]: String Shot, Poison Sting [Individual Talent]: High-grade Speed; mid-grade Stamina, Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense [Recent Turning Point]: Two months later, during the Mystery Realm invasion, after evolving into Beedrill, it would sense the fluctuations within the Mystery Realm. Relying on its incredible speed, it would obtain a Beedrillite. After the Mystery Realm ended, it would be caught by a Professional Trainer who came to resolve the incident.
