Background / History
Shu Tong first identifies Beedrill's potential while it is still a Weedle. Its script predicts that it will evolve during a Mystery Realm invasion, sense the Beedrillite within, and obtain it through its exceptional speed. Shu Tong begins forcing it through repeated, exhausting battles and then restoring it with Viridian Force, establishing the training-and-recovery cycle that shapes Beedrill's development. 3 4
As Kakuna, it becomes central to Shu Tong's plans for the Creek Town Mystery Realm. Hariyama finds the Perfect Quick Claw needed to trigger its evolution, while the Mystery Realm's treasures, the Beedrillite, and Shu Tong's Viridian Force converge during the process. Kakuna evolves into Beedrill and immediately undergoes the unique Double-Bond Mega Evolution. 91 105
Beedrill's growth continues through sustained Mystery Realm expeditions, formal competitions, harsh special training, and battles against increasingly superior opponents. It becomes Shu Tong's most reliable combatant and assumes responsibility for training weaker teammates, particularly Teddiursa, the Big Dipper Seven, Rhyhorn, and Ursaring. 107 110 147 178
Its future is closely tied to Celebi. Beedrill is foretold to break both stingers while protecting Celebi in the Jieshi Mystery Realm; this occurs before Celebi later regenerates its stingers and amplifies its level, talent, energy perception, and move proficiency with Divine Quick Claws and a World Tree fruit. 106 246
Appearance
During its initial Double-Bond Mega Evolution, Beedrill's legs become yellow-and-black with sharp spike-like ends, its twin stingers enlarge, and its wings become more streamlined and faster. Its body emits a notably ferocious aura. 105
- Twin stingers empowered first by the Perfect Quick Claw and later regenerated through Celebi's power. 105 246
- A Poison-type Energy Shield manifested when Harden transformed into Toxic Body. 105
- In Mega form, its heightened speed, larger stingers, and poisonous aura distinguish it from ordinary Beedrill. 105 402
Personality
Beedrill is fiercely disciplined, proud, and obsessed with combat improvement. It treats strong opponents as opportunities rather than threats, eagerly accepting repeated Boss-Tier sparring matches with Flygon despite exhausting Shu Tong's Viridian Force. 195 198
It is equally demanding as a mentor. Beedrill uses intimidation, physical pressure, and relentless drills to force Teddiursa into training, then applies the same uncompromising standards to Big Dipper Seven, Ursaring, and Rhyhorn. 107 110 151 178
Despite its severity, Beedrill is deeply protective of its allies. It allows Teddiursa to experience consequences before intervening, fights exhausted opponents to protect Shu Tong, and regards the Big Dipper Seven as family. Their departure to become World Tree guardians causes it profound grief. 113 129 246
Abilities & Skills
Dual-Bond Mega Evolution
Beedrill can Mega Evolve through its resonance with Shu Tong's Viridian Force. This form is characterized as a Double-Bond Mega Evolution, produced by their telepathic connection and Viridian Force rather than a conventional Mega Evolution alone. 91 105 106
- Shu Tong can trigger the transformation through Viridian Force whenever necessary. 106
- A Key Stone bracelet is later used to publicly demonstrate the transformation without exposing its unusual origin. 122
- Its Mega Ability is Adaptability, doubling the power of same-type moves. 107
- Its initial documented Mega base stats are 100 HP, 180 Attack, 40 Defense, 15 Special Attack, 80 Special Defense, and 180 Speed. 105
Toxic Domain
Toxic Domain originated from master-level Poison Sting during Beedrill's evolution. It creates a poisonous field that suppresses opponents' interaction with external energy. 105 106
- Prevents enemies within the domain from properly sensing or using external energy. 106
- Can reduce Mastery-level techniques to roughly Proficient-level effectiveness. 106
- Disrupts psychic links, including Kadabra and Alakazam's connection to Jiang Menshen. 112 119
- Supports battlefield control by concealing Toxic Spikes and weakening enemy energy perception. 127
Toxic Body
Toxic Body originated from master-level Harden and turns Beedrill's defensive adaptation into an offensive threat. 105
- Raises its physical and special defenses; the Double-Bond Mega form receives a far greater increase. 105
- Poisons targets that make contact with Beedrill. 105
- Its poison is decisive against stronger opponents, including Flygon and Director Gan's Staraptor. 195 186
Energy Perception and Critical Strikes
Beedrill's normal Ability is Sniper, which increases damage when it strikes an opponent's vital point. Its exceptional Energy Perception, Sharpen, and Focus Energy allow it to identify weaknesses in enemy energy structures. 106 107
- Tempered Focus Energy reaches Transcendent level after its evolution and later advances to Natural proficiency. 106 246
- Sharpen and Focus Energy improve its ability to detect vulnerable points, though Beedrill must still create openings to exploit them. 107 109
- Its precision enables it to bypass or exploit gaps in defenses such as Bastiodon's Iron Defense, Kadabra's psychic barriers, and Flygon's exposed back. 109 112 195
Life Energy Techniques
Beedrill's bond with Shu Tong and its absorption of a World Tree leaf transform its Life Energy into one of its defining strengths. 146 165
- Endure protects its final trace of Life Energy and allows it to survive attacks that should incapacitate it. 165
- Endeavor suppresses opposing Life Energy and is especially effective against highly defensive or high-stamina enemies. 115 198
- Substitute and Double Team can be combined to produce life-filled clones that are difficult to distinguish from the real Beedrill. 165 180
- After Celebi's enhancement, Substitute, Endeavor, Endure, and Tempered Focus Energy reach Natural proficiency. 246
Ultimate Twister
Ultimate Twister is Beedrill's principal finishing technique: a rotating, concentrated attack built from its speed, Poison energy, Bug energy, and later Drill Run, Swords Dance, clones, and Life Energy. 114 147
- Can split into multiple destructive copies for deception, area coverage, and pressure against Protect or Wide Guard. 147 198
- Defeated Kadabra after an escalating clash of Toxic Domain and psychic power. 114
- Helped Beedrill break through against Tauros, Flygon, Probopass, and numerous other stronger opponents. 138 195 198
- Later becomes one of Mega Beedrill's two exclusive skills. 402
Faith Legendary Beast Powers
Upon attaining Faith Legendary Beast Tier, Mega Beedrill gains three Energy Laws and the exclusive technique Seven Stars Unite in Brotherhood. 402
- Everlasting Vitality — continuously restores its physical strength, maintains peak condition, prevents instant death, and grants immunity to Life Energy attacks. 402
- Levitation Mark — places a mark that continuously drains an opponent's stamina. 402
- Three-Part Poison — ensures that any skill striking an enemy carries poison. 402
- Seven Stars Unite in Brotherhood — summons and fuses the Big Dipper Seven's power with Mega Beedrill's own; it instantly neutralizes Articuno's full-power ice attack. 402
Equipment / Augmentations
- Perfect Quick Claw — triggers Kakuna's evolution and influences Beedrill's initial Double-Bond Mega Evolution. 105
- Beedrillite — merges into its evolutionary energy during the Creek Town Mystery Realm event. 105
- Key Stone bracelet — used by Shu Tong to demonstrate Mega Evolution publicly. 122
- World Tree of Beginnings leaf — removes Beedrill's species lifespan limitation and deepens its Life Energy potential. 146
- Divine Quick Claws — fused into its regenerated stingers by Celebi. 246
- World Tree fruit — fused into its body by Celebi, raising its Life Energy use to Natural proficiency. 246
Relationships
- Shu Tong — Trainer and closest partner. Their telepathic connection and Viridian Force create Beedrill's Dual-Bond Mega Evolution; they repeatedly coordinate through strategy, healing, and shared resolve. 91 105 129
- Big Dipper Seven — Beedrill's trainees and family. It trains them in Agility, Swords Dance, formation tactics, and Energy Cube use; they later become World Tree guardians and permanently link their power with Mega Beedrill. 147 151 246 402
- Teddiursa / Ursaring — Strict mentor and protective senior. Beedrill's harsh instruction turns Teddiursa toward disciplined training; it later spars with Ursaring to demonstrate the difference between raw power and refined technique. 107 110 162
- Rhyhorn / Rhydon / Rhyperior — Training partner and junior teammate. Beedrill repeatedly withstands its charges and earns its respect through overwhelming technical superiority. 178
- Flygon — Competitive sparring partner and kindred spirit. Their repeated Boss-Tier battles strengthen both, and Beedrill ultimately assists Flygon in defeating Aggron. 198
- Celebi — Beedrill protects Celebi at the cost of both stingers; Celebi later restores them and grants a dramatic power increase. 106 246
- Mew — Grants Beedrill Divine Quick Claws and a World Tree fruit, then oversees its eventual fusion with Big Dipper Seven. 246 402
- Shu Tong's grandfather — Drinking companion; Beedrill remains enthusiastic about drinking with him even after evolving. 107 120
Story Role / Major Arcs
Evolution and the Creek Town Mystery Realm
Beedrill's evolution is the payoff to Shu Tong's early preparation. It evolves from Kakuna using the Perfect Quick Claw, Beedrillite, Mystery Realm treasures, and Viridian Force, becoming the first known Double-Bond Mega Beedrill. It then overwhelms Fearow and the escaped Spearow flock during the Mystery Realm merger. 105 106
Training and the College Entrance Examination League
Beedrill becomes Shu Tong's principal competitive Pokémon, repeatedly outclassing Hariyama, Heracross, Wartortle, Kadabra, and Alakazam. Its Mega Evolution is publicly revealed in the Su Province finals, where it defeats Jiang Menshen's Alakazam and makes Shu Tong league champion. 107 112 119 127
Sacred Mountain and Mystery Realm Growth
Within Sacred Mountain and later Mystery Realms, Beedrill develops Life Energy techniques, Ultimate Twister, Substitute-based clones, and its ability to counter coordinated formations. Its trials against Mienshao, Solosis, Entei, Raikou, and other powerful opponents establish the foundation for its later breakthroughs. 114 116 119
Qualitative Leap and Boss-Tier Advancement
Beedrill reaches Qualitative Leap Tier by surviving Tauros's Rage Release, then rises to Boss Tier after defeating Flygon. It continues to sharpen its tactical identity through Flygon sparring and fights against Probopass, Aggron, Muk, and other Boss-Tier enemies. 138 195 198 232
World Tree and Elite Four Ascension
When five Elite Four Tier Genesect threaten Mew and Celebi, Big Dipper Seven accept permanent service as World Tree guardians. Celebi repays the group by restoring Beedrill's stingers and fusing Divine Quick Claws and a World Tree fruit into it, elevating it to Elite Four Tier. 246
Faith Legendary Beast Evolution
Mew later reunites Mega Beedrill with Big Dipper Seven through the World Tree's power. The faith of Viridian Forest's Pokémon raises Mega Beedrill to Faith Legendary Beast Tier, gives it command-related responsibilities, and transforms its core energies into divine laws. 402
Trivia
- Beedrill considers Creek Town's forest—the site of its earliest special training and evolution—a place where it would like to retire. 133
- It is unusual among Beedrill for reaching Boss Tier and later Elite Four Tier, levels the narrative describes as unprecedented for its species. 195 276
- Beedrill is an accomplished Energy Cube maker, though its first successful cube was low quality and overly astringent. 110
- Its training methods inadvertently encourage Big Dipper Seven to consume Shuckle Jade Elixir Wine, creating a costly drinking habit for Shu Tong. 151
