Eli and Harry slunk out of the tent. They had accidentally stirred up trouble in there.
"So how are we supposed to find the clue? Listen to the whole thing?" Harry stared at the Golden Egg in his hands, incredulous. It was heavy, and his face was still pale.
"Ah! Ah! Ah!" Eli clapped his palms over his ears and kept yelling, trying to drown out the ringing.
"How is this any different from resisting the Cruciatus Curse?" Harry looked wearily at the Golden Egg. Why did each challenge seem worse than the last?
"There must be another way. Let me think..." Eli vaguely remembered seeing something in a movie in his previous life. Wasn't he supposed to put it in water?
That brought to mind the scene of Harry and Myrtle taking a bubble bath in the bathroom.
Eli glanced at Harry. Should he tell him in advance? But then Harry would miss out on that rare romantic encounter!
The First Task was over, and the students were still buzzing with excitement.
A one-on-one fight with a dragon! How often did they get to see something like that? They wanted more!
The moment Harry returned to Gryffindor Tower, the excited little lions surrounded him.
They were celebrating as though it were a holiday.
When Eli returned to the Slytherin Common Room, the scene was every bit as lively.
The little snakes were just as excited. The younger students in particular crowded around Eli.
Some girls, their faces bright red, slipped little notes into Eli's clothes. Others handed him delicate trinkets, as if they were tokens of affection.
"All right, all right, I can't carry any more."
"Hey, you're a boy! What are you giving me that for? Take it back!"
The chatter around him was giving Eli a headache.
