Sunagakure's New Look: Lush Greenery

As greenery spread through the northwest district at an astonishing pace, Sunagakure itself—the resilient fortress that had stood amid wind and sand for decades—also underwent a dramatic transformation. Shaye's vision had never been limited to the distant frontier. He knew that improving the home environment was the most direct way to unite people's hearts and raise their sense of well-being.

A greening project called "New Sunagakure" quietly began, likewise centered on the tireless Ecological Puppets and their ingenious coordination with ninja.

The first thing to change was the village's "boundary." Massive Windbreak and Sand-Fixing Puppets took root atop the dunes at key wind gaps outside the village. Drilling piles extended from their bases and drove deep into the ground, while their upper sections unfurled layered flexible screens woven from special alloys, effectively reducing wind speed and intercepting the drifting sand blowing toward the village. Beneath the screens, drought-resistant sea buckthorn and saxaul saplings were planted in large numbers and carefully tended by Drip-Irrigation Puppets that slowly released water, gradually forming a living green barrier.

Upon entering the village, the greatest change was the appearance of "water." A clear artificial canal encircled the village's main internal areas, its water drawn from purified groundwater and partly from water transported from East Sea Bay through underground pipelines. The canal banks were no longer bare rock or sand, but neatly built revetments planted with weeping willows and drought-resistant shrubs. Several formerly abandoned corners had been converted into small reservoirs, their edges adorned with pavilions. There were even little waterwheels turning slowly, their pleasant creaking making them new places for villagers to relax.

Along both sides of the streets, curbstones once buried beneath windblown sand had been revealed. At regular intervals stood tree pits hardened with Earth Release. Inside grew trees transplanted from oasis nurseries
