Defense of Sunagakure and accession

Rasa emerged as Sunagakure’s foremost defender when Kumogakure invaded during the Third Kazekage’s disappearance. His Gold Dust stopped the central advance and held the A-B Duo in place until Chiyo’s Puppet Corps forced Kumogakure to withdraw. 53 54

Following the battle, the council selected him as the Fourth Kazekage because of his strength, prestige, and ability to unite the leaderless village. He immediately ended the nearly six-month search for the Third Kazekage and redirected Sunagakure toward recovery and training. 55 56

Financial crisis and war

After the Land of Wind Daimyo cut Sunagakure’s funding, Rasa imposed emergency austerity policies despite opposition from the elders. He then secretly used Gold Dust to mine gold in the desert and exchange it for essential supplies. 58 62

Defeat at Kikyō Mountain
