Background

The White Room is a training facility where children receive an intensive education regardless of their initial talent. Weaker children are progressively eliminated from its program. Sakayanagi Arisu visited as a child and watched Ayanokoji Kiyotaka through one-way glass; she later played chess with him and lost 172 173.

Ayanokoji's father, Ayanokouji Atsuomi, directs White Room personnel and treats the children as experimental subjects. Some children born there have been taught to regard him as a strict father 415.

• The facility's stated aim is to educate its trainees into outstanding individuals. Arisu questions both its humanitarian implications and its premise that genius can be created through training 172.
• Ayanokoji is described by a White Room operative as its “supreme masterpiece” 174.

Operations at Advanced Nurturing High School

• Attempt to retrieve Ayanokoji: Tsukishiro directs infiltrating students to have Ayanokoji expelled within four months so he can be returned to the White Room without exposing the plan 174.
• Continued pursuit: After Tsukishiro's departure, Amasawa tells Ryuuen that the plan against Ayanokoji remains active and that other operatives include top students from the Fifth and Sixth Generations 253.
• Change of orders: Atsuomi later instructs White Room personnel at the school to help Ayanokoji graduate from Class A rather than seek his expulsion 415. Amasawa subsequently says Ayanokoji ordered them not to expel Yagami after Yagami attacked him 465.
