Background / History

Founded during the Warring States period by Hashirama Senju, Madara Uchiha, and Tobirama Senju, the Hidden Leaf Village established early supremacy by dividing the tailed beasts among the nations 132. Boasting fertile lands, deep foundations, and a massive pool of talented ninja, Konoha emerged victorious from the Second Shinobi World War after defeating Hidden Rain and fighting Sunagakure 1 3. However, its dominance was challenged during subsequent conflicts with Sunagakure, the Hidden Stone, and the Hidden Cloud 7 33 213.

Following the disastrous defeat of its East Route Army at Lishi Fortress and Moon Lake by Sunagakure and its allies, the village suffered severe financial and military decline 213 287 321. After the resignation of Hiruzen Sarutobi, Shimura Danzō seized power as the Fourth Hokage during wartime 421 423. Following Danzō's downfall, Hiruzen resumed leadership under heavy war reparations and economic warfare orchestrated by Sunagakure 483 514. Ten years later, the village fractured during the "Three Konoha Disorders," leading to the Three-Tails Uprising, an internal Uchiha Revolt, and the formal split of the village into North Hidden Leaf (led by Uchiha Fugaku) and South Hidden Leaf (led by Hiruzen Sarutobi) 515.
