Background / History

Shirou originated from a parallel version of Earth. He came from Japan in 2004, where Fuyuki City experienced a great fire in 1994; these details establish that his world differs from Lu Mingfei’s Earth. He later crossed into the Lands Between and became one of the Tarnished capable of wielding Runes and resurrecting there. 10 11

Before meeting Lu, Shirou defeated Margit, the Fell Omen, on his ninety-fifth attempt. He credits that victory to studying Margit’s movements across ninety-four deaths rather than to easy talent or false confidence. 10

Lu first finds Shirou’s golden summon sign outside Coastal Cave, bearing the message, “If you need help, call for me—Emiya Shirou.” Shirou answers the summon as a Carian knight and joins Lu against the demi-human chiefs and their followers. 9 11
