Background

The Gate first takes Fang Xing to the Cultivation World, where he begins developing as an Immortal Martial Artist. Later openings take him to an Evil God World and other worlds; Fang Xing concludes that an opening’s destination is related to the energy used to charge it 309.

The Gate’s restrictions change with Fang Xing’s circumstances. During one traversal, his true body falls asleep while his consciousness enters another major world; that descent can be made only once 407. After Fang Xing refines the Gate as a Dao Lord, previously visited destinations become accessible to him by their coordinates 646.

World Traversal

• Opens passages to other worlds and can transport Fang Xing’s consciousness, true body, or clone, subject to the conditions of an opening 407 529 646 659.
• Can lock onto a chosen destination after Fang Xing gains greater control over it 659.
• Can retrieve materials from the Azure Origin Great World; Fang Xing uses it to obtain the Longevity Tree 655.

Protection and Remote Action

• Preserves Fang Xing’s true-spirit imprint when his Immortal Cultivation Clone’s body perishes 557.
• Lets Fang Xing attack distant enemies through the Gate. The two Zerg Eternal Existences cannot reach his true body by striking the Gate 718.
• Forms layers of spacetime around Fang Xing’s true body while he sends an Eternal Imprint elsewhere 720.

World Creation

• Releases accumulated Chaos energy to help establish a new world and stabilize its earth, fire, wind, and water 679.
• Keeps a strand of Fang Xing’s primary consciousness awake while the rest sinks into the new world’s origin 679.

• Fang Xing — User and eventual master of the Gate. He charges it, refines it, and relies on it for travel, protection, and his attempt to create a world 196 646 679 720.
• Gate of Emptiness — A separate gate whose power contributes to the Gate of Heavens’ second opening. Fang Xing fears that opening the Gate of Heavens before it could allow contamination to pass through 309 327.
