Background / History

As a student at Yucai High School, Liu Wei trained alongside Fang Xing as a fellow Biochemical Human. He initially regarded martial arts as a difficult route with poor prospects and planned to enter college and transfer into the Mecha Department instead. Nevertheless, he took hazardous part-time work as a Human Dummy with Fang Xing to fund his ambitions. 3 4

Liu Wei was drawn to both Ouyang Qianqian and Bai Lianyi, though he believed the social and biological divide between a Biochemical Human and a Natural Human made Ouyang unattainable. His friendship with Bai deepened after she paid his treatment fee following their sparring match; he also accepted work at Glory River Mansion partly for better pay. 7 9

Before awakening his ability, Liu Wei was approached by a Gate School heretic offering to induce a flesh-and-blood superpower. He feared the consequences of accepting such a “gift,” but desired the strength to surpass Fang Xing, escape the Flesh Battlefield, and change his circumstances. After leaving Fang Xing behind, Liu Wei became involved with the Rebel Army, a force primarily composed of Biochemical Humans. Following the Rebel Army’s failed cooperation with the Evil God Cult, Liu Wei’s status became precarious.
