Background

West Qi gathers increasing numbers of Qi Refiners as the Shang–Zhou conflict escalates. Its alliance with the Elucidation Sect turns what might have been a mortal war into a sustained conflict among immortals. Wen Zhong identifies the growing presence of Elucidation Sect disciples as a direct threat to Great Shang's existing forces. 11

Its battlefield doctrine repeatedly centers on isolating Intercepting Sect cultivators, exploiting individual weaknesses, and using prepared treasures or formations to secure kills. This strategy initially targets the Four Sages of Nine-Dragon Island, then the Ten Heavenly Lords, Zhao Gongming, the Three Cloud Sisters, and the Four Demon Generals. 12 18 52 57

Recruitment of the Four Sages of Nine-Dragon Island

Wen Zhong seeks reinforcements after learning that West Qi is attracting more Qi Refiners and Elucidation Sect support. The Four Sages of Nine-Dragon Island answer his request and immediately defeat West Qi's frontline cultivators through coordinated combat. 11 12

West Qi then adopts a strategy of provoking, separating, and ambushing the four Sages. Lin Yuan repeatedly exposes these traps, preventing Wang Mo, Yang Sen, Gao Yougan, and Li Xingba from being defeated individually. 13 16 18

Conflict over the Ten Ultimate Formation

After the Ten Heavenly Lords arrive at the Shang camp, West Qi tests their Ten Ultimate Formation with cultivators carrying specialized countermeasures. Lin Yuan's proposal to link the ten separate formations makes those individual counters unreliable, as each formation can borrow power from the others. 20 22 23

The Elucidation Sect escalates by sending one of the Twelve Golden Immortals into the Heaven-Absolute Formation. The attacker nearly kills Qin Wan by exploiting the formation's support routes, but Lin Yuan reroutes the incoming power and saves him. 24

West Qi continues adapting its formation-breaking methods, forcing the Ten Heavenly Lords and Lin Yuan to repeatedly revise the linked formation. The conflict culminates in the Twelve Golden Immortals attacking all ten formations together; they fail to kill any of the Ten Heavenly Lords and ultimately withdraw. 25 26 27 28 29

Zhao Gongming Campaign

West Qi faces a major escalation when Zhao Gongming arrives to support Great Shang. The Twelve Golden Immortals are unable to overcome his twenty-four Sea-Calming Pearls in open battle and retreat after being overwhelmed. 30 31

Unable to defeat him directly, West Qi employs Xiao Sheng and Cao Bao. Xiao Sheng's Treasure-Dropping Coin successfully disrupts Zhao Gongming's control of a Sea-Calming Pearl, exposing the danger of the specialized treasure. 32

Lu Ya later attempts to kill Zhao Gongming through a concealed Nail-Head Seven-Arrows Book ritual. Lin Yuan, the Ten Heavenly Lords, the Four Sages, and other Intercepting Sect members trace the curse to its hidden altar before it can claim Zhao Gongming's life. 36

Nine-Twist Yellow River Formation

After Zhao Gongming's near-death experience, the Three Cloud Sisters establish the Nine-Twist Yellow River Formation against West Qi and the Twelve Golden Immortals. The formation traps and weakens the Golden Immortals by scattering their Five Qi and shaving away their Three Flowers. 40 41 42 43

West Qi's side is only spared further losses when Yuanshi Tianzun intervenes. Tongtian arrives in response, protects the Three Cloud Sisters, and forces a withdrawal rather than allowing the conflict to become a Saint-level battle. 46 47

Jiameng Pass Campaign

West Qi later turns its attention to the Four Demon Generals at Jiameng Pass. It first studies Mo Lihong's Mixed Element Umbrella, then launches a coordinated attempt to burn, bind, and pierce the treasure's restrictions. Lin Yuan identifies the true threat and helps the generals repel the ambush. 52 53

Further attempts to split the four brothers apart fail after Lin Yuan establishes a fixed mutual-support formation. West Qi's plans to neutralize Mo Lihai's Jasper Pipa and immobilize the Mixed Element Umbrella are both reversed through deliberate bait-and-counterattack strategies. 54 55 56

West Qi finally launches simultaneous attacks against Mo Liqing and Mo Lishou. The Four Demon Generals remain united, rescue the Flower-Fox Marten, repel a Golden Immortal, and sever all four of their death trajectories. West Qi retreats without securing a kill. 57
