Beyond its original, basic form, the Rinnegan could evolve into the Tomoe Rinnegan or the Tomoe Rinne Sharingan.

One of Sasuke Uchiha's eyes was a Six-Tomoe Rinnegan. Its ocular power surpassed that of an ordinary Rinnegan, and it possessed the abilities of both the Sharingan and the Rinnegan. It could tear open space, manifest Susanoo, and freely shape chakra elements into physical creations.
