Power Progression

Background

Jobu is a modern person who transmigrated into the body of a six-year-old Uchiha during the Warring States Era. Forced into his first supply-convoy battle against rogue ninja, he kills decisively despite lacking the Sharingan. The battle reveals his Chest System: enemies he personally kills can leave behind treasure chests containing weapons, supplies, skill fragments, and eventually Kekkei Genkai. By the end of the encounter, he has assembled Earth Release: Earth Spear from ten fragments. 1

His performance earns him recognition within the Uchiha Clan alongside his older cousin, Madara. A guidance match against Madara exposes the limits of Jobu’s shurikenjutsu, but his unexpected use of Earth Spear convinces instructor Uchiha Kuwajima that he merits greater clan resources and authority. 2 Jobu later trains enough to fight Izuna without being defeated, though he continues to regard Madara as the strongest of their generation. 3

During the Kaguya Clan’s attack on the Uchiha compound, Jobu refuses Madara’s initial order to flee and argues that his Earth Release can alter the battlefield. Fighting beside Madara and Izuna, he uses Earth Spear to impale distracted Kaguya ninja and gains higher-grade chests, including Dead Bone Pulse fragments, chakra-conducting metal, and a One-Tomoe Sharingan. 6 7 He subsequently develops the Dead Bone Pulse and Sharingan while improving his physique and chakra reserves. 8

Jobu’s ambitions extend beyond personal survival. He argues that the Uchiha should protect subordinate clans such as the Hagoromo rather than merely expend them, since dependable protection will attract future allies. Tajima values this political judgment, while Madara accepts Jobu as the “foundation” supporting his eventual leadership. 9 Jobu later begins assembling a refugee-based subordinate force under Ying’s command. 10

After suffering through the Uchiha–Senju conflict and witnessing Izuna lose a Sharingan to Tobirama, Jobu places Izuna’s recovery and the clan’s future above Madara’s immediate revenge. 21 22 He also begins experimenting on refugees to transfer Kekkei Genkai. Of fifty selected subjects, only Ying, Jobu, and several subordinates survive with new powers; Jobu eventually hands the laboratory and its research to Izuna. 23

Jobu leads the escort of Land of Lightning noble Shinteng Zoi with Ying and refugee subordinates, surviving a Chinoike Clan assassination attempt. The resulting campaign brings him into conflict with the Blood Dragon Eye and its users’ ability to create living bombs. His battle against Chinoike clan head Qian Rou forces him to abandon his earlier complacency and treat every opponent as a serious threat. 24 34 Madara ultimately incinerates Qian Rou before Jobu can secure her treasure chest. 35

After the campaign, Jobu begins considering an Uchiha-led shinobi village and methods to compel or win weaker clans into Uchiha protection. He concludes that such ambitions require greater personal strength and considers the Chimera Technique as a means of acquiring further Kekkei Genkai. 37 During the later Uchiha–Senju battle, he obtains a Dragon Lair Summoning Beast Scroll and immediately attempts to use it. 46

Jobu gathers Wood Release fragments during the war and completes the bloodline ability, using Deep Forest Emergence to fight the Senju. He kills Tobirama with Fire Release shortly afterward, although he later encounters other versions of Tobirama following revivals and timeline changes. 53 56 As Madara neglects administration in favor of combat, Jobu becomes the Uchiha Clan’s effective patriarch and begins absorbing or threatening other clans in preparation for an Uchiha-led village. 61 62

His village-building campaign evolves into a drive for control of the tailed beasts and the moon’s Ōtsutsuki branch. After collecting Byakugan, Tenseigan, and Rinnegan fragments from lunar Ōtsutsuki, he assembles complete Sage Eyes and defeats Ōtsutsuki Hamura with Six Paths: Chibaku Tensei. 80 83 91 Killing Kazuto and Yosuke grants him a Sage Body and the Jōgan, after which he exterminates the remaining lunar Ōtsutsuki who challenge him. 100 101

Jobu later becomes the Ten-Tails’ jinchūriki, absorbs the chakra fruit created from Momoshiki, and evolves into a true Ōtsutsuki after obtaining an Ōtsutsuki Bloodline from a five-colored chest. 118 127 130 Though he leads the Uchiha and allied forces against the Ōtsutsuki Main Family, their strength overwhelms his group. He remains behind to ensure the others’ escape and detonates a Little Ten-Tails, barely surviving in his private dimension. 137

When Jobu returns, he finds the Ninja World and even the Pure Land annihilated. Grief and rage drive him to activate the Plow, an Ōtsutsuki artifact capable of time travel, and seek an earlier timeline in which he can hunt Ōtsutsuki and grow strong enough to challenge the Main Family. 138 He arrives during the night of the Uchiha massacre, neutralizes Danzō and Root through genjutsu, confronts Itachi, and intervenes to preserve the Uchiha Clan. 139 140

In the altered modern timeline, Jobu rebuilds the Uchiha as an expansionist military power. He purifies Setsuna’s bloodline to prevent Mangekyō blindness, forcibly awakens Mangekyō Sharingan in Inabi and Tekka, and uses alchemy and captive shinobi to strengthen the clan. 149 160 He later revives Uchiha from multiple eras, excludes those he regards as followers of Konoha’s Will of Fire, and prepares the clan for a renewed war against the Ōtsutsuki. 191 193

After the Ōtsutsuki God helps him cross the world barrier, Jobu travels with Madara, Izuna, and other Uchiha into other worlds while retaining a route back to the Naruto world. 196 202 In the One-Punch World, he defeats Boros on the Moon and absorbs the world’s rules after his Human Limiter is removed, completing an ascent into eternal immortality. 241

Personality

Jobu adapts rapidly to violence and treats combat as both a survival requirement and a source of advancement through his Chest System. He is willing to take lethal risks, seize kills, and use deception or traps when direct combat is unfavorable. 1 2 26

He is politically ambitious and thinks beyond individual battles. He wants the Uchiha to surpass the Senju, gather dependent clans, and eventually establish a shinobi village under Uchiha leadership. 3 35 37 His pragmatism also leads him to endorse dangerous Kekkei Genkai experiments, even after witnessing their low survival rate. 23

Despite this ruthlessness, Jobu prioritizes Uchiha survival over revenge. He urges Madara to recover Izuna’s eye and end a costly battle rather than continue pursuing Tobirama. 22 His confrontation with Qian Rou also makes him recognize that arrogance can be fatal; this change in mindset strengthens his ocular power and makes him more disciplined in battle. 33 34

As the Uchiha’s effective administrator, Jobu combines intimidation with calculated diplomacy. He orders the destruction of the Tsuchigumo Clan after its refusal to submit, but gives the Aburame Clan time to make its own decision because he recognizes that rule by terror alone will provoke resistance. 61

Jobu’s later growth makes him increasingly contemptuous of weaker opponents and willing to regard enemy lives as resources, treasure chests, Chakra Fruits, or alchemical materials. His treatment of the lunar Ōtsutsuki and his decision to consume Momoshiki reflect a predatory belief that stronger life-forms must devour weaker ones to evolve. 100 127

His clan loyalty remains a defining restraint on this cruelty. He risks himself to save Madara, Izuna, Hashirama, and Tensei from the Ōtsutsuki Main Family, grieves when he finds the Ninja World destroyed, and immediately intervenes to prevent the Uchiha massacre in the altered timeline. 137 140 He considers loyalty to the Uchiha more important than loyalty to Konoha or the Will of Fire, which leads him to brand Itachi, Shisui, and similar figures as traitors. 139 193
